Minister Reti has appointed a Commissioner to HNZ You will likely have seen the news that the HNZ board has been removed and Lester Levy has been appointed as Commissioner. These are some of the notable requests Minister Reti has made of Lester Levy: - A clear path to financial sustainability and organisational performance. - Review of the entity’s governance, leadership and operating model including the role of regions. - Ensure there is no interruption to services during this period. - Explain how HNZ will strengthen the clinical voice in decision making. - Ensure patients and families remain the central consideration of health care planning and provision. While it is difficult to determine how these changes will affect the device industry, I think we can be certain that we won’t have the stability and clarity we are seeking around medical device management for some time yet. To receive a copy of the letter from Minister Reti to Lester Levy or the cabinet paper - email emma@mtanz.org.nz

Built to help transform the health care landscape, the National Registry of Physicians (#NRP) will move us towards stronger health care delivery and portability of licenses across jurisdictions. After completing initial development for the NRP and signing participation agreements with eleven provincial and territorial medical regulatory authorities (MRAs), the NRP team and MRAs are now focused on populating the data. In parallel, the NRP Data Governance and Advisory Committee held its inaugural meeting in early June. The Committee's role is to advise on future functionality to be added to the NRP and acceptable uses of the physician data.
