The Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX has solidified its reputation for exceptional efficiency, conquering the demanding terrain and scorching temperatures of the Arabian desert in its latest feat. New Efficiency Benchmark Set In The Desert On March 15, 2024, during its third long-distance journey exceeding 1,000 kilometers, the VISION EQXX achieved a remarkable feat. Traversing a challenging route encompassing busy city streets and open desert, the car achieved an outstanding electric power consumption of 7.4 kWh/100km (8.4 mi/kWh). This translates to an efficiency equivalent to around 0.9 liters per 100 kilometers or a staggering 282 MPGe for a gasoline-powered vehicle. Remarkably, the VISION EQXX accomplished this in ambient temperatures reaching 34 degrees Celsius (93 degrees Fahrenheit), surpassing its own previous efficiency record by a significant margin. The journey began at the Mercedes-Benz Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and concluded at the recently opened Mercedes-Benz Brand Center in Dubai, UAE. The 1,010-kilometer (627.6-mile) route included urban and suburban sections in both Riyadh and Dubai with heavy traffic, along with lengthy highway stretches across the open desert. The VISION EQXX completed the trip in 14 hours and 42 minutes, arriving in Dubai with 309 kilometers (192 miles) of remaining range after departing Riyadh with a full battery.
