How I Judge Early-Stage Startup Pitch Competitions: --- The Problem: Have they convinced us the problem they set out to solve is real - worthy of a business? --- The Solution: Is their solution to the problem sufficiently unique from what's available today or, if not, do they have a distinct point of difference that will attract customers? --- Founder confidence: From a potential investor's perspective - do they have a grasp of the industry, grasp of business, ability to be convincing, ability to lead this startup to success. --- Investible: Likelihood - given all that was shared in the pitch - someone would invest in this startup. Can you pitch your startup in 60 seconds? ⏰ ================================ • What is it: 0-5 CTP is the 'science of the next century'. • Mission: 5-10 Advance the civilization of humankind - technologically, scientifically, spiritually, and consciously. • Problem: 10-25 Our world faces many crises. Anyone with a basic awareness should already be aware of several global problems humanity faces - TODAY. • Solution: 25-40 'Next century' level solutions across multiple industry and verticals. Think: "If 'Star Trek'-like level solutions were available TODAY? That's essentially CTP 101. One may then begin to appreciate CTP's higher advanced level mindset: the 'science from the future'. • Traction: 40-55 This revolutionary new science foretold by Nikola Tesla is so advanced - many are still processing it. The winner will automatically become a finalist for Pitch HearstLab (held in Atlanta in November) to receive $100k in investment with the opportunity for additional follow on investment. This is cool. Wall graphics are an effective way to passively reinforce organizational values or visual management. Being able to print directly on the wall makes it easier. If it could print on glass then another usage scenario could be glass store fronts.

NETWORK OR NOT TO NETWORK Yesterday in BKK at a bar I met one of the founders from our Los Angeles pitch competition. We discussed the value of a pitch competition. The founder didn't get into top-3, but met a person with whom they are discussing an investment and partnership. When I asked what did he think about judges. He kind of paused and said: it's my mistake, I was pitching for the first time in such a format, so I run away from judges. And it's not rare. Key take-aways: 1. networking with judges is as important as pitching 2. if you are not selected for a line-up you can still pitch - we have 1 spot for randomly selected startup from the audience 3. if you are not pitching you still should approach judges and network with us P.S.: I'll release the line-up in a few hours. If you are not selected for tomorrow, but would in NYC on 19th of November, I'll consider you for that competition 🤘
