The NEMU project - Kick-off webinar Dec 3 9.00-12.00 NEMU – Nordic Ecosystem Mobility Unlimited – is about elevating Nordic Connectivity. The NEMU project is owned by ITS Nordic+, with partners ITS Norway, ITS Finland, ITS Sweden, ITSDanmark and ITS-Ísland, in addition to Entur AS, Matkahuolto and SFMCON, funded by Nordic Innovation for three years starting in 2024. On Tuesday 3 December at 09:00-12:00 CET, we kickstart the project with an introductory webinar about NEMU - we look forward to seeing you! 🤩 👉 Get details on agenda and sign up here: https://lnkd.in/dnt9eHgx The EU's Green Deal and Nordic Vision 2030: The Nordic Region will be the world's most sustainable and integrated region by 2030. Although it is both easy and digital to use a private car or plane to cross borders in the Nordic region, planning and travelling by public or sea-based transport is both fragmented and largely limited to national borders. The NEMU project will demonstrate that it is also possible and easy to use public transport and private transport providers to travel across the Nordic region. The initiative leverages existing open mobility data to enable seamless, sustainable and borderless travel across Nordic countries using one app and paying once. It’s been a while since we posted an update on the stakeholder meetings, which are a key way to stay connected with our stakeholders across each region. These meetings keep stakeholders informed about developments in the TOURBO project and provide a platform for their valuable input on various project topics. Stakeholder meetings are ongoing throughout the project and play an essential role in the exchange of knowledge, information, and networks. So, what happens at these stakeholder meetings? For example this summer, our Croatian partners PORA Regionalna razvojna agencija Koprivničko-križevačke županije hosted their 4th stakeholder meeting. During the meeting, they introduced stakeholders to best practices presented earlier in the spring at the Interregional Workshop held in Rovaniemi, Finland. The meeting also featured updates on Pilot Projects in Italy and Greece, specifically focusing on the initial phase of these Pilot Actions. This phase involves gathering Knowledge Providers from all regions, including Croatia, to offer expertise and services to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in the Pilot Action regions. Discussion centered around the transferability of the good practices to Koprivnica-Križevci County, as well as on collecting regional best practices about tourism’s twin transition to share with other partners. That is what the good practices are for: to support policy improvement in each region by sharing ideas and examples. By the way, regarding the Pilot Actions! The call for knowledge providers remains open until the end of the year, and a new call has opened in the Pilot Action regions for the innovation project ideas of the micro, small and medium sized tourism enterprises. If you are, or know potential knowledge providers, they can still join. Interreg Europe #regionalcooperation #tourismpilotprojects

The entire rail world is looking to Berlin this week for #InnoTrans2024, at the same time the EU 🇪🇺 intensifies its focus on sustainable mobility. Just days ago, European Commission President #UrsulaVonDerLeyen introduced a new portfolio for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, emphasizing the EU’s commitment to cutting transport emissions by 90% by 2050. With rail emitting up to 80% less CO2 than cars or planes, it’s clear that rail travel is key to this strategy. Tourism, contributing 10% of the EU’s GDP and employing over 27 million people, is undergoing a vital shift towards sustainability. The EU's recent investment of €1.5 billion in green travel infrastructure highlights the seriousness of this move (much more to come). At Rail Europe, our mission aligns perfectly. Rail is responsible for just 0.4% of Europe’s transport emissions, and we look forward to collaborating with national train operating companies, businesses, and industry leaders to make European mobility greener and more resilient. With #ApostolosTzitzikostas as the new Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, we expect even greater momentum toward sustainable travel solutions. The future of European #mobility is sustainable, and rail is leading the charge! Are you ready to join us on this journey? Share your thoughts in the comments! #MakingTrainTravelEasy #Future

📅 #EventWednesday #InterregEurope #GreenInclusiveMobility Decarbonised, inclusive and connected public transport poses challenges differing between rural and urban regions. In contrast to cities, low-density areas often lack public services and rely on private cars, which leads to them missing out on social and economical opportunities and not being able to follow infrastructural advances. In addition, through high levels of tourism, an important economic sector in most rural areas, cars form a major part of transportation. Novel approaches become necessary to decarbonize and connect such regions and provide steady, reliable pub;ic transportation services, which facilitates the relinguishment of cars. On 7 March, Interreg Europe’s Policy Learning Platform is dedicating an online workshop to regional sustainable mobility and demand-responsive public transport in rural areas. From 14:00 to 16:30 CET, two sessions and two interactive discussions are planned with expert speakers from Germany, Italy, Spain and Portugal presenting best practices. Following this, there will be the opportunity to use time slots in an online policy helpdesk meeting for individual needs from 16:30 to 17:00 CET. This workshop demonstrates exemplary solutions and lets participants choose from three presentations per session on sustainable mobility and demand-responsive transport (DRT). These refer back to past Interreg Europe projects and conclude with an interactive discussion. Presentations to pick from: 1) Jeffrey Matthijs on shared mobility 2) Ricardo Palma and Irene Ruiz on the potential of cycling 3) Irene Nicotra and Massimiliano Petri on Good-Go, a platform to collect credits and rewards by choosing sustainable means of transport The following session offers the choice between: 1) An interview with Christian Ramelli on DRT 2) A talk by Albert Guillaumes Marcer on shared mobility 3) Jorge Brito’s example of Sit Flexi, a DRT system in Coimbra For those interested in participating, read more and register here: 📍 https://lnkd.in/dMhDrZUj Picture by Alexandre Lallemand on Unsplash

SME co-creation experience workshops begin. SMEs from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden and the Åland Islands have started to work on creating new off-season experiences for Light in the Dark. They will meet over the coming six months in online and IRL workshops. The resulting experiences will be piloted in all participating regions. Our second webinar, "Challenges and Opportunities for Low-Season Tourism in the Baltic Sea Region," took place on September 10th and was a great success, with over 240 registered participants. During the webinar, Åland University of Applied Sciences presented the findings from the challenge inventory, while Klaipeda University shared the results of the visitor analysis. These insights laid the groundwork for the first tourism experience workshop, which we had last week! In this first of a series of eight workshops, we focused on customer understanding. Participating SMEs were divided into three groups, each assigned one of three experience themes: "Local Lifestyle," "Nourished by Nature," and "Active Adventure." These themes were developed based on the visitor analysis results. During the workshop, each group created a customer persona for their respective theme, which will guide us in the upcoming experience development process. Our next workshop is scheduled for October 8th, where the focus will shift to experience design. At that point, we'll begin planning the new experience products for each theme. Stay tuned for more updates! Interreg Baltic Sea Region, EUSBSR Policy Area Tourism #Interreg #BalticSeaRegion #Tourism #Sustainability

Skal Europe Annual General Assembly 2024 On Saturday, 28 September 2024, Skal Europe held its Annual General Assembly online, bringing together members from across the continent to reflect on the year’s achievements, share insights, and outline plans. The virtual gathering was a testament to Skal Europe’s commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation within the tourism industry, despite the challenges of a digital format. Led by Skal Europe President Franz Heffeter, the assembly featured key updates, discussions on sustainability, and the much-anticipated presentation of the Skal Europe Sustainability Awards and Special Awards, celebrating the outstanding contributions of members who have significantly impacted the global tourism community. 🔔 📰 Today we begin a new series of editorials concerning the SMEs that participated in the RESETTING calls for innovation and digitalization in the tourism sector! We start with TravelAlbania, an SME based in Tirana that specializes in cultural tours around Albania and the neighboring Balkan countries of Kosovo, Montenegro and North Macedonia. They partecipated in our second open call - https://buff.ly/3Hl6pl1 - and utilized the project help and funding to update their website with booking online possibility, create a new visual identity for their brand, as well as produce promotional videos of the tours they do, specifically with drones, HD video, and a VR tour. We kept in touch with them, and asked for some feedback - this is what we got back! “We are incredibly happy that our new website now better represents our SME's aspirations, is customer-friendly, and makes it easier to be in touch with us. We hope that this year we will see better what growth this new website will do for our business.” The digitalization of SMEs is one of the core priorities of the resetting Project, so we are thrilled to know about the improvements achieved by TravelAlbania with their website, and about the innovative technologies they utilized to make their new promo videos! We asked them about how they see their future after this experience with RESETTING, and this were their direct thoughts: “2024 and the next three years will better manifest if and how the improvements we made will contribute to our long-term sustainability. We are conscious that as Albania grows as a tourist destination so does the number of companies that offer tours. We are always trying to better define our USP unique selling points, to better position ourselves in an ever growing market. This is why we hope that somehow our collaboration with Resetting and other European agencies can continue and grow.” Supporting and funding SMEs was among the core purposes of RESETTING, but wasn’t the only one: developing innovative Smart Tourism Tools (STT) for SMEs and other tourism entities was the other one, and these STT are now close to being deployed! Keep following us on https://buff.ly/3PWajCm to learn more, and be ready for our official community, that is coming online this very wednesday!
