Don't get me wrong, I like people. I like big windows, plants, and open ceilings as much as anyone. I'd be very stoked about a burrito restaurant on site, or being given my own scooter to navigate the facility. But when it comes to digging in and delivering at work, I'd take almost anything over being expected to do it in what is commonly thought of as a modern, fancy work environment. 6 Places I'd Rather Work Than A Modern Co-Working Space: 1. Janitor's Closet 2. Phone booth 3. The back of a truck 4. A weird basement 5. A potato farm 6. An abandoned house The key to a work environment that works for everyone is giving people choices. Neuroinclusion is not a one-size-fits-all approach. #Neurodiversity #NeurodiversityAtWork #NeurodiversityEmployment #ThinkDifferently #NDVoices

We have really cool “phone booths” for working around campus. They’re great! 😊

I am with you 100%. I try to structure my work so that the days I'm required to be in the (modern, open) office I am doing tasks that don't require sustained focus. The REAL work gets done at home where I have more control over my environment.

As a neurodivergent person, having to share space with others - particularly people I don't know - is right up there with working next to a heavy metal band. It might be a great use of space, but it's not going to help me be productive.

I have written thousands of lines of code in a giant hall filled with over 10,000 scientists. However, if I have to deeply think about anything, then I need a very different environment. Flexibility and diversity of environment is the a huge key to getting into a flow state for me. I don't have any recognized neurodiversity. But I think individuals vary significantly and successful, optimized environments need to account for that.

I'd love to have an old gray cubicle if I were honest 😅

Weird basement is definitely my preference. And it’s where I am again!

Weird basement is cool. Even better if it's a secret basement with a secret door and all that.

Great perspective! I prefer quiet, extreme silence, janitor closet..
