I'm delighted to share that our research paper, 'Assessing Final Year Radiography Students' Satisfaction with Clinical Training: A Cross-Sectional Study at Lead City University, Nigeria,' has been published in the Journal of Healthcare in Developing Countries (JHCDC)! This cross-sectional study, conducted under the supervision of Mrs. Elizabeth Balogun and led by our Head of Department, Dr. R.O. Akhigbe, examined the clinical training experiences of final-year radiography students at Lead City University. Our research revealed important insights about student satisfaction levels, identified key areas for improvement in clinical training, and highlighted specific challenges in the learning environment. I'm particularly grateful to have collaborated with my colleague O.F. Adewumi and M.A. Abubakar on this important work. The findings from this study contribute valuable insights to the ongoing development of radiography education in Nigeria, especially regarding hands-on training opportunities and infrastructure challenges in clinical settings. I want to express my deepest gratitude to Prof. Musa Muhibi, whose guidance as both a father and a seasoned academic was instrumental to this research. His mentorship throughout this project went far beyond parental support – his expertise, critical insights, and unwavering encouragement helped shape this study into a meaningful contribution to radiography education research. His dedication to both family and academia continues to inspire my academic journey. You can access the full article here: https://lnkd.in/daDZtKdu I hope this research helps spark meaningful discussions about improving clinical training experiences for future radiography students in Nigeria and similar developing healthcare contexts. #RadiographyResearch #ClinicalEducation #MedicalImaging #HealthcareNigeria #RadiologyEducation #LeadCityUniversity #StudentSatisfaction #HealthcareDevelopment

Ayoola Okuribido, a rising second-year student in the Master of Science in Medical Physics program at the Perelman School of Medicine, will embark on a trip to Ghana this week as part of the Global Medical Physics Training & Development Program (GMPTDP). We had the chance to catch up with him recently to get his thoughts on the opportunity. Here’s some of what he shared: “I jumped at the chance to practice my clinical skills in Ghana because I’m very passionate about global health and healthcare disparities. This program will expose me to what will likely be a very different kind of resource management from what I’ve come to know so far during my education and training. In the process, I expect to learn new approaches to universal issues, which will ultimately help make me a more well-rounded clinician. That tracks with my experience at the #PerelmanSchoolofMedicine so far. I’ve strived to take advantage of as many opportunities as I can, with the aim of expanding my knowledge and enhancing my skill set at each turn. I can’t quite say where I see myself after graduation. I’m keeping an open mind and trying to increase my prospects with each new venture. To me, being prepared for my eventual career doesn’t necessarily mean being homed-in on a particular specialty. It means trying to become as versatile as I can be because then, if you don’t have the answer, you should at least know where to start.” We invite you to learn more about the GMPTDP: http://spr.ly/6041eWEx1

I recently joined #CochraneCrowd and have been assessing papers for eligibility in several systematic reviews. This morning, while reviewing, I had a eureka moment! At the Institute of Health Research and Development, UUTH we announced the upcoming maiden edition of our journal, the Health Research and Development Journal (HRDJ) in April, 2024 and put out a call for papers. Everything has been progressing smoothly, and we have received a good amount of high-quality research articles. However, we are continuously seeking peer reviewers for the manuscripts we receive. This is where my eureka moment comes in—why not crowdsource reviewers like Cochrane does? So, here goes: *Call for Reviewers* 1. Are you an expert in any health-related field, with an advanced degree (MSc, PhD, MD etc)? OR do you specialize in any particular research methodology? 2. Do you have at least 3 publications in peer-reviewed journals in your area of expertise or presented and published conference papers and health-related articles in leading professional magazines? 3. Do you have a good command of the English language, including verbal and written fluency? 4. Do you want to contribute to the scientific community and make a meaningful impact where it is needed the most? The Health Research and Development Journal is actively seeking reviewers to help ensure our papers are of the highest quality. *About the Journal* The Health Research and Development Journal (HRDJ) is the official journal of the Institute of Health Research and Development, affiliated with the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital. It is an open access double-blind peer-reviewed journal that fosters dynamic discourse and disseminates knowledge in health research. HRDJ covers clinical studies, public health, clinical trials, translational and interdisciplinary research, and welcomes contributions from researchers globally. It can be accessed at www.hrdj.org You may ask, what is in it for me? We are unable to remunerate our reviewers currently, however, you would have the following benefits: By reviewing articles in your field, you will enhance your critical thinking and analytical skills, thereby gaining some professional development 📚. You will receive acknowledgement as one of our reviewers which could help build your professional profile 📝. You will be contributing to the scientific community by playing a crucial role in advancing health research in Africa 🌐. You would enjoy discounted publication fees for your research articles in our journal. If you’re interested in being a reviewer for our journal, complete the form at https://lnkd.in/dvMzTf6v and we will contact you. We would be very grateful for your contribution, and your expertise could make a significant difference in advancing health research. #HealthResearch #PeerReview #HRDJ #IHRDUUTH #Volunteer #Publishing
