The day's proceedings started with a welcome speech from Abdul Rahim Suriya, President ICAP. He informed the attendees that the CFO Conference is an important agenda item of ICAP's committee for 'Professional Accountants in Business' led by Mr Yacoob Suttar, ICAP council member and Executive Director - Pakistan State Oil. He further added that the CFO conference was held. He said that ICAP produces Chartered Accountants par excellence and that contrary to popular belief, it was interesting to note that around 80 percent of the members are employed in industry and trade, and not just involved in the professional practice. Quoting Sten Fornell, CFO of Ericsson, he said that by the year 2010, the use of the title CFO may no longer be appropriate and may be replaced by something like CPO (Chief Planning Officer). As a result of the demands placed on companies by shareholders, regulators and the public at large for increasing financial information, the CFO’s role is shifting dramatically from a transaction manager now to a communicator, strategist and a business leader. The CFO is involved more in ensuring that the information is correct rather than actually being involved in the process of creating the information. Technology, standardization of data, managing external relationships and developing human resource are some of the key factors which are required to be focused by the CFO in order to maintain his leadership position in the next decade. https://lnkd.in/dhmxeKGr

The potential for the ANC and DA to form a stable administration hinges on a variety of factors. Each party holds considerable influence in different areas of politics, and their cooperation could lead to a well-rounded and resilient government. However, the success of this collaboration would rely heavily on their capacity to negotiate, find common ground, and come to agreements on crucial policy matters. While obstacles are to be expected, with the right mindset and approach, the ANC and DA have the potential to establish a reliable and effective governing body. In order for this potential alliance between the ANC and DA to thrive, it would require a high degree of mutual respect and understanding. Both parties have significant strengths in various aspects of the political landscape, and if they were to work together, it could result in a more balanced and dynamic government structure. Yet, the key to making this partnership successful lies in their ability to engage in constructive dialogue, make concessions, and reach consensus on important policy decisions. While challenges may arise, by adopting a cooperative and pragmatic approach, the ANC and DA could indeed pave the way for a stable and efficient administration. Both parties wield significant influence in distinct spheres of politics, and their collaboration has the potential to yield a well-rounded and resilient governance structure. However, the effectiveness of this joint effort would predominantly hinge on their aptitude for negotiation, flexibility, and consensus-building on critical policy matters. Although obstacles may surface, with a constructive mindset and strategic approach, the ANC and DA could feasibly forge a stable and proficient administration.

in Interesting that I have read an article in today's Public Finance Magazine from CIPFA's director of Public Financial Management, "Being complacent about how you set out to scrutinise and make decisions is a guaranteed route to failure" I couldn't agree more! that's why I have asked the CIPFA president and Chief Executive Elect to instigate an inquiry into CIPFA'S future in line with the 10 point plan shown in my open letter below.
