Smart ways of using software doesn't make architect's job less important. In order to build more sustainable is important to thing on all aspects of a building not just on the aestetics, but all the other components. There is where advanced software plays a key role in solving various problems in a faster and more efficient way.
Imagine not being technically limited by software, but instead being able to evaluate your design at the speed of your thoughts. (Turn up your sound and get a feeling of how you can chat with your design software.) Traditionally, running environmental analyses required extensive technical skills and complex software. This limits access and affordability, leaving many out of the loop. What if we made it simpler and more accessible for everyone? Here’s how we make this happen: Voice to text (Whisper) -> text to function call (GPT-4) -> function call to our Rhino plugin (JavaScript + WebView) -> live compile to C# code (Roslyn) -> execute code in Rhino viewport (RhinoCommon). Once this tech stack is set up, you’ll be chatting with your design software like it’s your new best friend. For example, we only define a function to change the month, but the Large Language Model knows that ‘early spring’ means March and ‘winter’ means December. It’s like having a mind-reading design assistant! Big shoutout to the Henning Larsen Computational Design Team led by Mariusz Hermansdorfer, and a special thanks to Ashkan Rezaee and Damian Granosik for showing us that the future is now. You guys are the real MVPs! #AIarchitecture #ComputationalDesign
