Protect Your Hearing This October! October is National Protect Your Hearing Month. This month, we're raising awareness about noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) and how to prevent it. NIHL can affect anyone at any age and can be caused by exposure to loud noises, such as gunfire, loud concerts, and listening to music through headphones at high volumes. To protect your hearing, follow these tips: Avoid noisy places whenever possible. Lower the volume on your music and TV. Aim for below 60% of the maximum volume. Use earplugs or earmuffs in loud environments. Move away from the source of loud noise. Invest in noise-canceling headphones to block out background noise. Get regular hearing screenings from your doctor.
