The 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Tech Magazine is out! 🎉   The Jeddah circuit is a very fast track, where aerodynamic efficiency and engine matter. In fact, in this article Fulvio Conti and I talked about how Aston Martin raced with a more loaded rear wing than other teams like Mercedes and McLaren and how this shows their great work on aerodynamic efficiency. Alpine, instead, hasn't worked as well from this point of view. February is usually the busiest partnership announcement month in Formula 1. March have been slow, only 2 new announcements 🤝 February was as busy as 2023, but March have been slow. 👉 Scuderia Ferrari have made one (1) new partnership announcement, Peroni Nastro Azzurro, so far (January) 2024. 👉 Mercedes-AMG have made one (1) announcement - Luminar Technology in 2024 (January). (BetterUp not counted) 👉 RedBull Racing have made one (1) major announcement 2024 (January)- VISA. This confirms that the top teams have very stable partnership networks at the moment. Only minor changes needed. 👉 Haas is the only F1 team with zero (0) new announcements sor far 2024.

Yesterday’s race at Marina Bay brought intense competition and showcased how critical engineering excellence is in motorsport. McLaren Racing continues to prove their resurgence with an outstanding 1-3 finish by Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Norris not only dominated the race but also extended McLaren’s lead in the constructors’ championship. Their ability to manage both pace and consistency under the challenging conditions of Singapore’s street circuit is a testament to their advanced aerodynamics and tire strategy. On the other hand, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team had a mixed day with George Russell finishing fourth and Lewis Hamilton in sixth. Their performance highlights their ongoing battle to close the gap in downforce efficiency and maintain competitive race pace. As for Red Bull Racing & Red Bull Technology, Max Verstappen finished second, but this performance showed that even top-tier teams can have off days. Their pursuit of the championship remains strong, but McLaren’s momentum is becoming harder to ignore. It’s fascinating to see how engineering innovations are driving such changes in team dynamics. These races highlight why collaboration between drivers and engineers is more critical than ever in developing efficient, high-performance machines. Formula 1 is a sport of blistering speeds, razor-sharp precision, and split-second maneuvers. But what if your car can't get close enough to pass? That's where DRS comes in. DRS (Drag Reduction System) is that little rear wing flap you'll see pop open on F1 cars as they rocket down straightaways. Opening the wing reduces drag and gives a speed boost to fly by the competition. But DRS is more nuanced than just a nitro button. It can only be activated in designated zones if a driver is within 1 second of the car ahead.
