IWIM applauds Rio Tinto for the release of their second Everyday Respect at Work Report. This report demonstrates a commendable commitment to transparency, leadership and inclusion, addressing not just workplace behaviours but also the beliefs and mental models that shape their culture. It takes courage and vulnerability to go public. As one of our Ally Corporate Partners, Rio Tinto’s ongoing efforts to foster a respectful and inclusive environment resonate strongly with IWIM’s mission to advance gender equity and drive transformational change across the mining sector. Although some may only look at the huge amount of work left to do after reading it, we also want to pause and acknowledge that 11,600 people had trust in the process and shared their views for this report and feel more confident that they can speak up. It is natural in any DEI change management exercise for numbers to go down further before they go up as more employees feel they can report. Ca. 20% of global employee individual contributions is massive. Change that sticks takes time and patience. Rio Tinto's progress serves as a powerful reminder of the work we must all do to create workplaces where everyone feels safe, respected, and empowered to thrive. Especially these days, when the importance of improvements in diversity is being questioned. We are proud to collaborate with forward-thinking organisations like Rio Tinto, and we encourage others to follow their lead in addressing cultural challenges with accountability, transparency and a long-term vision for systemic change. Together, we can build a more equitable future for mining and beyond. #responsiblemining #respectatwork

It’s been 2 years since we released the Everyday Respect Report and today we've released the findings from an independent Progress Review on our work to deliver sustained workplace cultural change across our global operations.     We can see that change is happening and we're making progress.    However, there are serious challenges we must continue to address. People are still experiencing behaviours and attitudes in our company that are unacceptable and harmful. And we're troubled by this.     Thank you to all of our team members, past and present, who have shown the courage to speak up.     Read the executive summary from the report below 👇.     A full copy of the report is here: https://lnkd.in/g5_eYYCC   #EverydayRespect #WorkplaceCulture

Well done! Rio Tinto, continue the good work. Human behavioural change can be very challenging but it is surmountable. Everyone need a sense of belonging!
