1. I was astonished by the brilliant 1987 conversation below on literary modernism. It featured A+ exchanges between Anthony Burgess, George Steiner, Hermione Lee, Malcolm Bradbury, and Melvyn Bragg. You should take a look. 2. My first thought on finishing: "Such a thing would never have made it onto American airwaves, in the 80s or right now. Or ever." 3. Second thought: "Who cares! We can watch this, whenever we want, on YouTube... for free. We can today make our own, highly personalized viewing choices. We don't have to depend anymore on producers or programmers to bring us quality. That is some kind of progress!" 4. What's glorious here is that this convo is just the capstone of a ten-part series featuring individual programs on Kafka, Woolf, Joyce, Mann, and all the others (*The Modern World: Ten Great Writers*). All of which are *always instantly available* for our edification and enjoyment. 5. So how about some giving-of-thanks for all the valuable content floating around online that commercially minded TV types wouldn't dare put in front of us? cc Suzanne Elise Walsh Angela Stockman Trevor Aleo, Ed.D. #qualitycontent #gratitude #youtube #modernism #thanksgiving
