🔰 It was my pleasure to join as a speaker at the workshop titled “Towards 2050: The Future of Agricultural and Food Sciences in Azerbaijan,” organized by #ADAUniversity. 🔰 The workshop aimed to set the state of the art of the scientific sector, serving as a platform for discussion while promoting dialogue with industry and policy and addressing current and future challenges. 🔰 There were fruitful discussions about the future of agricultural sciences and the exchange of different views on innovations. 📗 While on the subject, I would like to share a few facts about agriculture. 🌿 The agricultural sector is a significant contributor to Azerbaijan's non-oil economy and has a great potential for stimulating economic growth, job creation and ensuring food security. 🌿 Agriculture is Azerbaijan’s largest employer, with roughly 40% of the working population making some part of their living in agricultural sector. 🌿 The percentage of lands suitable for agriculture is more than 55%, almost 40% of the active labor force is employed in the agricultural sector, approximately 45% of population lives in rural areas. 🌿 Azerbaijan possesses approximately 4.8 million hectares of agricultural land. Crop production accounts for around 47% of agricultural production with livestock farming making up the remaining 53%. 🌿 Foodprocessing sector constitutes an important component of the agriculture and accounts for over 38% of total manufacturing industry.

We are thrilled to announce an exciting update! Supported by Syngenta Ukraine, we have initiated a new phase in our project aimed at aiding small and medium-sized Ukrainian #farmers whose lands have been adversely affected by military activities. We are especially grateful to Oleksandr Kravchuk for his leadership and unwavering support during these challenging times. In five regions of Ukraine, our British-Ukrainian team led by Olena Melnyk has collected #soil samples. The research includes field measurements using a portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) device and laboratory studies to determine potentially toxic heavy metal elements, pH, cation exchange capacity, base saturation, particle size distribution, and more. Currently, our colleagues led by Prof. Volodymyr Trotsenko from Сумський національний аграрний університет (Sumy National Agrarian University), are analyzing these samples. Most importantly, the creation of tailored remediation recommendations will be conducted by the scientific group CYFE together with our fantastic colleagues from Royal Agricultural University, Mark Horton, and Nicola Cannon. We also highlight our colleagues from Berner Fachhochschule BFH, Jan Grenz and Mariana Melnykovych, who will contribute to developing the #sustainability strategies of the project. H.E. Dr. Mohammed Salman Alhammadi, Assistant-Undersecretary of the #Biodiversity and #MarineLife Sector at MOCCAE, participated in the 2nd Meeting of the BRICS Agriculture Cooperation Working Group in Moscow, accompanied by a team from the ministry. The meeting discussed BRICS priorities in agriculture and the preparation for Deceleration Agriculture. During the meeting, H.E. also attended a workshop on agriculture and food. The workshop discussed the current status of agricultural trade among BRICS countries and the role of new members in enhancing trade flows. Key topics included opportunities for expanding trade preferences, joint business projects, and improving agricultural productivity through innovations and technology transfer.

Antti X-Series - Award-Winning Innovation 🥈 Finland's most prestigious agricultural machinery fair, MaatalousKonemessut, awarded the Antti X-series dryer with the Silver Prize. A jury of agricultural editors selected the winners from the innovative products entered in the competition. The key criteria for judging new agricultural machinery included the product's importance to agriculture, its impact on profitability and processes, environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and contributions to workload reduction and safety. Antti X-series mobile dryers are delivered in pre-assembled, electrified modules, ensuring smooth installation and quick readiness for use.
