Is the market for used Cybertruck models driven by more than basic supply and demand? Used Cybertruck prices have seen a "sharp" drop as Tesla prepares to ship new models, with the average used price declining from about $143,000 in June to around $121,000 in August. Nonetheless, many prices are still higher than the list prices for the new vehicles, and buyers may question the value of purchasing used models at a premium when it is more attractive - at least on paper - to buy a new truck. One possible explanation for the remaining used vehicle premium is the potential for collectible value, especially considering the relatively small production run for the original models. #Pricing #Tesla #Cybertruck #Automotive #ConsumerBehavior #Psychology

BMW, Ford, Toyota, Kia, and Subaru have all enjoyed a 60% loyalty rate in 2022. However, Tesla's public image has taken a hit, leading to a significant sales decline. According to S&P Global Mobility, Tesla's U.S. EV market share is expected to drop until it reaches 20% by 2025. Legendary investor and Columbia Business School professor emeritus Bruce Greenwald predicts that Tesla won't dominate the auto market in 20 years. We're already three years into those two decades, and this drop is a clear indication of much larger issues ahead. #design #innovators

Love them or hate them! Those at Tesla certainly know how to change the manufacturing landscape forever. Back around 1910, Henry Ford change the way cars were made, by introducing vertical manufacturing methods & by using a production line. Since then, most other product manufacturers worldwide have adopted both these methods of manufacturing 👍 Since around 2010, Tesla has been focusing their expertese on the "Machine that makes the Machine". This has enabled them to ditch the production line methods & simplify it to a "Cell" based methodology. By doing so, they can undertake changes to the production units in minutes(!!) whilst other companies (BMW, VW, etc) take 6-18 months to implement changes. The reality of this, was tested recently when some Cybertrucks slipped out with incorrectly torqued door catches 😢 As soon as this problem was highlighted, it was rectified immediately, and only 18 vehicles were effected & had to be adjusted (at the customers premises). This speed can not be matched by any other car manufacturer currently, and enables Tesla to reduce their costs significantly. With the launch of the Cybertruck, which includes a 48V wiring system (not 12V), together with Ethernet cabling, and a partially 'Un-Boxed' process. Tesla has been able to test their new manufacturing design & processes on a low(?) volume vehicle 👍 Their new $25k mass market, low end, vehicle, will implement all the advantages of the above technologies (Cell production, 48V, Ethernet & full Un-boxing), to ensure their manufacting costs are reduced by 50% 😱😱😱 For legacy automotive companies, who are already struggling to make any money on declining ICE sales & unable to turn a profit on EV's (typically losing ~$36k per vehicle!!!) - They will find it almost impossible to compete against this new Tesla model 😢 Rumours abound on the final pricing & launch date of this new vehicle. Hopefully we'll see some products before then of this year. This new model, at 50% reduced manufacturing, a price of around $25k, and with all the technical advantages of FSD & future full-autonomy - Is going to floor their competition & the general public 😱 Paradigm Shifts are truly disruptive 🤔 #tesla #ev https://lnkd.in/eDkCubKS

Monetization - Pricing Transformations - Change Management - Value-based pricing
4moThanks Jean-Manuel Izaret (JMI). I would imagine that Cybertruck customers are either Tesla fanatics or thrill seekers. Car value probably does not matter to them. Some might be gamblers who took an early bet to resell. I think competition is certainly increasing in that category! Be well.
