This work represents a significant milestone in our efforts to understand and enhance the resilience of mangrove ecosystems. Our study employs cutting-edge predictive models to assess the health of mangroves and proposes innovative restoration strategies to combat environmental challenges. The Day AFTER Earth Day...... Earth Day has come and gone, with its annual flurry of posts and tweets, but here at Greene Economics, every day is Earth Day! In partnership with ecologists, biologists, soil scientists and others, our dedicated team of economists work daily on projects that value and support the conservation and preservation of earth’s resources. Through our recent projects, we have focused on identifying the many ways in which a healthy ecosystem can benefit native wildlife and people alike. By bringing attention to these ecosystem services and the value they provide to local residents, economies, and native wildlife, we hope to inspire action and a sense of stewardship concerning these invaluable resources around the globe. We’ve recently started work on a pivotal project with the Washington Department of Natural Resources to develop an inventory of DNR managed lands and evaluate the potential to generate carbon offset and other ecosystem services credits to potentially generate revenue for trust beneficiaries, support conservation, and help Washington meet its Climate Commitment Act goals. You can follow our progress on this project here:https://lnkd.in/gBRSCJhc. In the City of Saskatoon, we’re developing an Environmental Account for a Multiple Accounts Evaluation. This account evaluation captures the potential impacts from improved ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration and stormwater management. These impacts are measured both qualitatively and quantitatively. The final deliverable will be an easily digestible pamphlet that compiles and summarizes the environmental benefits of the project that can be shared with the community. In addition, we recently completed two projects that highlight the economic benefits of water quality and the potential returns from investing in ecosystem service improvement.
