Great morning talking to students of Ark Boulton Academy as part of their careers panel event, organised by Ahead Partnership. I asked the students what they knew about recruitment and only a few raised their hand. Completely understandable, I didn't know too much about it prior to starting in the industry. Ultimately, recruitment is a huge part of any business, hiring the right talent is key to the success of any organisation. I've worked in recruitment for a long time and I rarely hear recruiters say that they planned to have a career in the industry (myself included). Given its importance, can we do more to promote our industry as a long-term career choice?
Thanks for coming to showcase to young people the variety of careers available in the world of work! To answer your question, there are loads of things that businesses can do to promote their industries, volunteering at our events like the careers panel is a great way to start, you could also offer work experience placements or workplace visits, as well as creating longer-term programmes with partner schools to develop meaningful, lasting relationships with the future talent pipeline. Luckily, this is all something that we can help with so drop us a message if you'd be interested in hearing more!
This is great Jack. I know from my time is FE how vital it is for young people to hear from professionals like yourself so they can fully understand their options. Very few businesses actually offer their time so well done to you and Spirehouse Recruitment for getting involved.
This is fantastic Jack! Really wish I knew more about recruitment in school, given all the avenues you can choose from and industries to specialise in.
Bet you sold them the dream, Jack.
A great piece of work Jack 👏
