When I'm taking photos in natural light, I love to backlight my subjects, but sometimes the sun in the background can look really harsh. I'm gonna show you two different ways to dim your highlights so that it's not distracting or abrasive to the eye. The first method is in the Basics tab with the white slider, and you'll see that when I bring the whites down on this photo, it's really going to flatten out those highlights. The second method is in the Tone Curve tab. Normally what I like to do is create an S curve to add more contrast to my photo, and that'll grab the head of the S curve, Pull that down and you can see that it really flattens out those highlights. I find that I go to using the tone curve more to dial in those fine details, whereas the white slider. It's kind of like an overall for me.

Real Photos Show Mastery Of The Subject! What does it communicate when you use a stock photo? If you’ve chosen a photo that only vaguely relates to the topic, it might communicate that you don’t know much about it. Businesses that say they have “expert staff” or “years of experience” can communicate that more effectively by showing real photos of staff, and photos of parts of the business that only an expert would have access to.
