Reflecting on Day 2 of the 2024 Annual Future of Work 4IR Dialogue: Unleashing Innovation for a Future-Ready Africa It was a privilege to attend this year’s dialogue, which is always a profound experience for young people and professionals alike. A few key takeaways stand out: Shifting Mindsets: The conversation highlighted the need for young people to adopt a mindset focused on creating opportunities rather than just seeking them. By cultivating creativity and entrepreneurial thinking, we can start small businesses and leverage the resources we already have—meeting the industry halfway and contributing meaningfully to Africa's growth. Effective Communication: A reminder that strong communication skills remain critical in our rapidly evolving work landscape. Being able to convey ideas effectively is essential for collaboration, leadership, and growth. Personal Growth and Environment: Personal development often depends on the environments we navigate. Structural challenges in our surroundings can impact growth, making it essential to acknowledge and address these realities to foster supportive, growth-oriented spaces. On the 9th of April The Nomalanga Tribe hosted episode 4: The Human Sustainability Bottomline. Were you aware that there are four distinct levels of awareness? The initial level is unconscious ignorance, where individuals are unaware that they lack knowledge. Unfortunately, they mistakenly believe that they possess knowledge. The second level is conscious ignorance, where one acknowledges their lack of knowledge. This state is highly beneficial as it allows individuals to take action and address their gaps in knowledge. Moving on to the third level, we have conscious awareness. At this stage, individuals are fully aware of their knowledge and feel confident in expressing it. Finally, we have the last level of awareness which is unconscious awareness. Here, individuals have become specialists and can effortlessly delve into a given topic. They operate on autopilot due to their extensive knowledge acquired over time. Over the past three months, Journey To The Boardroom has embarked on a journey to enhance our levels of awareness. Today, I am filled with pride as I can confidently say that it has been a remarkable three months, transitioning from good to exceptional. I would like to extend a special acknowledgment to Hassan Saleh, the Managing Director of MultiChoice Uganda, for his remarkable generosity in shaping the next generation of corporate leaders and board members.
