What have you been reading lately? Last week I dove into Hamlet for the first time in years. The Folger Shakespeare Library's audio version was a delight! Audiobooks are an especially great way to get into a play. When you watch a play performed, you're seeing a combination of the script, the director's vision, individual actors' choices, and the staging/lighting/sound/costuming (plus the electricity of the audience!). When you read a script silently, you have to do all the work of the cast, crew, and audience for yourself. I find reading along to an audiobook helps bridge the gap between these two experiences and lets me get deeper into the text. I can spend more energy on noticing.
A Passage to India
I haven't read Hamlet lately, but it's a classic. I learn from it every time I watch the play or read it.....I can say that of all Shakespeare's works, right Jacquelyn Bengfort ? His writings are timeless!
