Revisiting my last publication of 2024 - a review of the 'Introduction to History' (Itihashe Hatekhori) Series by Institute of Development Studies, Kolkata in association with Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, which was featured by Hindustan Times Bangla.   Special thanks to Anik Biswas, my senior and dear friend, who also co-authored the book on Sports History in this series, for assigning me with this delicate task.  Writing History - objective and well-reasoned, for children in this age of rampant misinformation and distortion seems to be the need of the hour.  Here's my two cents on that -  https://lnkd.in/gP8v-SCu

Composed between 300 BCE and 300 CE, during the Sangam period, these works encompass various genres such as poetry, drama, and didactic literature. 1. **Historical Context**: The Sangam period was characterized by the patronage of kings who supported gatherings of poets (Sangam), hence the name. These assemblies served as platforms for literary creation and critique. 2. **Themes and Subjects**: Sangam literature reflects the ethos of the time, encompassing themes like love, war, governance, morality, and nature. Poets often celebrated the beauty of Tamil land, its flora and fauna, and the lives of its people. 3. **Three Sangams**: Sangam literature is traditionally divided into three periods - the First Sangam, the Second Sangam, and the Third Sangam. They are now being examined by experts!
