Read that top line: "starting salary of at least $32 an hour." Kudos to Tacoma Housing Authority for walking the talk and paying its employees a "housing wage"! $32 an hour is what a household must earn to afford the average monthly rent and utilities for a two-bedroom apartment in Tacoma without paying >30% of income on housing. 40% of all households in Tacoma are either housing cost burdened or extremely housing cost burdened.
Each position has a starting salary of at least $32 an hour! Learn more or apply now at tacomahousing.org/jobs.

"You're a long way from home. What are you doing in *insert state here* ?" We travel a lot, so we hear that question a lot, including today while recruiting at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma, Washington. The answer to that question is always the same. "We are looking for future Arizona State Troopers... they just don't live in Arizona yet." There are great candidates all over the country. If we were to restrict our recruiting efforts to within Arizona's borders only, we would miss out on a lot of them. Motivated people move cross-country for great job opportunities in other industries all the time, so why would that be different when seeking a career with an elite law enforcement agency? The simple answer: It's not. A comprehensive recruiting plan is one that targets the best candidates, both in- and out-of-state.

Candidates pursing a career in law enforcement are increasingly evaluating factors beyond just salary when deciding which agency to apply to. This reflects a broader awareness of work-life balance, personal well-being, and career development opportunities. While developing ThinBlueLineCareers, we wanted to build on this concept to provide tools for both agencies and candidates. 1. For Agencies: Through an Agency Profile, agencies can select "Agency Tags", which includes things such as: K-9 Unit, Drone/UAS Team, Wellness Program, On-Shift Fitness, Peer Support, and more. This information, in addition to pay, promotional images/videos, recruiter information, and other agency details creates a quick summary of what the agency has to offer. 2. For Candidates: Our search allows you to use these Agency Tags to filter agencies and search for ones that match your career aspirations. Results are then sorted by location, showing you the agencies nearest to you. You want to find an agency with an on-site gym, bicycle unit, 12-weeks parental leave, and a college town - we can do that. ThinBlueLineCareers.com was built by prior law enforcement and is dedicated to recruiting for every career path with in your agencies. Creating an Agency Profile is completely free and my team and I are here to help. #recruiting #thinbluelinecareers
