Survey analysis: What is your favorite type of gift card? 🎁 Thank you to everyone who participated in our survey! 🙏 SINC NOVATION Group , we want to better understand your needs and preferences when it comes to gift cards, and your feedback is invaluable to us. Here are the results: 41% prefer a multi-brand gift card 24% prefer a brand-specific gift card 20% prefer an experience-specific gift card 15% prefer a gift card bundle It's great to see that multi-brand gift cards are the most popular, but it's unfortunate that only 15% prefer a gift card bundle 😉. We probably need to do more convincing here, as we firmly believe in their potential. Statistics show a positive customer response, a higher shopping basket and an increase in customer contacts. [We will work on better communicating the effectiveness and added value of gift card bundles.] Thanks again for your participation and your valuable feedback! 🙌 #SINCThoughts #SINCNOVATION #Giftcards #bundle"

“Without data you’re just an idiot with an opinion”. On the recent, My First Million Podcast Sam Parr shared this quote from the CB Insights website. I love this. I never thought about it but until releasing dashboards in iziGift we were making out users idiots with opinions. How can you justify paying for a gift card app if there is no data to prove it’s working? How do you justify it to your boss? “Well, I believe gift cards are helping us grow our business.” That works when you’re a small business, when you’re building on your own or when you have so much money you don’t know what to do with it. Once you need to prove your thoughts to someone you need data. CB insights is right. Last week, I released a feature that is designed to help my users be a little smarter about their gift card strategy. How much revenue are you making from your gift card sales? Previously, you could get this information if you did the math manually… but who wants to do that. What about if you want to know if you’re making money on top of the gift card sales? Impossible! Until now. We are now in our data era at iziGift. We want to give our users the data they need to do more with gift cards. And after looking at the data, doing more would be a great idea. For example, this month one of my users made over $20,000 in revenue on orders that used gift cards (thats above and beyond the gift card value used. In the picture below we call it Total Upsell Revenue) This is huge when you think about how you can use that. Do you even need to sell the gift cards to get that benefit? Nope, just issue gift cards to previous customers and watch the revenue poor in. Oh yea, and did I mention iziGift can help you easily issue gift cards to thousands of people at a time as well? 😁

Have you ever been encouraged to "circulate" your 💰? Target gift cards—ironically—are a perfect example of it: In 2023, we consumers redeemed $907 million ($2.5 million per day) worth of Target gift cards. And then we purchased $829 million ($2.3 million per day) worth of new Target gift cards. At the end of 2023, Target had $1.16 billion in unredeemed gift cards sitting in the bank. This motion of spending and purchasing Target gift cards is circular in nature—it keeps 💰 in their ecosystem. Now Target is an ironic example because "circulating our dollars" is usually a charge to support local businesses. But in using Target, I hope you see how powerful the concept can be. I have a lot of interesting (to me at least) stats and stories about gift cards I'd like to share. Are you interested? Don't miss them by joining this list: https://2ly.link/20sAd

Did you know that gift cards can be a tool for scammers? Don’t get fooled this holiday season—here are two of the most common signs of gift card scams: -Tampered gift cards at stores. Look for unusual scratches and signs of damage. Choose a gift card from the middle or back of the rack, or better yet, ask for one from behind the counter. -A “business” or entity requesting payment in the form of a gift card. No legitimate business will ever ask for a payment in the form of a gift card. What do you do if your gift card is tampered with? Call the customer support number on the back of the card. What's in a gift card? Ever received a gift card or wondered what it is? A gift card is a prepaid card commonly stored with a certain amount of money which can be used to make purchases and some kinds of financial transactions. If someone gifts you a gift card, it means the card has a certain value that allows you to choose an item or items of that value from the store it was purchased and other stores where such a card is accepted. There are two types of gift cards : 1.Physical cards which are the regular plastic cards 2. Digital (e-cards) where you are assigned a unique gift code which you can use when making purchases at online retail shops. Gift cards can be open-loop or closed loop. An open-loop gift card can be used anywhere the particular brand of card is accepted while a closed-loop gift card can only be used at specific stores. There are also hybrid cards which allow you use a gift card at some stores associated with the card but not everywhere. Have you ever received a gift card? Do you prefer a gift card to an actual gift item? Kindly share your thoughts in the comment section. 👇 Have a beautiful Monday!

In an ideal world, the gift card is a win-win: For the buyer, it’s a hassle-free gifting experience; for the recipient, it’s a cash equivalent that can be used at any store or restaurant. But gift cards aren’t always ideal. Oftentimes, they go unused — whether we lose them, forget we have them, let them expire, or fail to spend the full amount that was gifted. And when that happens, there’s only one winner: The companies that sell the cards. WHEN GIFT CARDS GO UNUSED Most people who receive a gift card are quick to put it to use: More than 70% of all gift cards are redeemed within 6 months of purchase, according to one survey. But after that first 180 days, the rate of use tends to stagnate. At the one year mark, just under 80% of cards are redeemed — and as time passes, they are less and less likely to see the light of day. At any given time, 10% to 19% of gift card balances remain unredeemed — and around 6% of gift cards are never even used.

🎁 New Blog Alert 🆕 In my latest blog, I delve into a popular myth that businesses prefer when gift cards go unused. But is that really the case? In my experience, the answer is no. But here's the kicker: most businesses aren't tapping into what could be their most profitable customers. My ideas in this blog post could boost your business, but that's not my primary goal. I want merchants to take my advice so they create positive gift card experiences for consumers--that's who I'm here to help. And guess what, folks? It's July. That means it's go-time for holiday planning and marketing. Much as I'd rather focus on the sunshine and summer, we all know what's coming. Check out the article, and let's connect if you want access to my newsletter or an explanation of how our certification can get you on the positive side of gift card stories in the media. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gDUZbKR8

How much used money do you have on half-used gift cards lying around? 💸 Forgotten, partial amount gift cards in a drawer or wallet. Last I checked, I have $259.46 across 28 gift cards. Business Idea: Leftover Gift Card Marketplace (pending a more creative name). Based on my poll yesterday, it seems most of you would only be willing to accept 50% or more of the value of your “forgotten” gift cards in cash. Since they are just sitting around anyways, I’m calling you out as liars and you lie. 😂 My poll question specifically asked about “forgotten gift cards.” Obviously you do not care that much about the value if you have forgotten about them… 😉 That aside, say that gift card holders needed to be paid out at 50%, and purchasers got a 10% discount on their total purchase amount. You take your gift cards lying around and upload them to the marketplace. For example, I currently have in a drawer: $4.35 on a Visa gift card, $0.82 on a Jamba Juice gift card, $1.87 on a Starbucks gift card, etc. Uploading gift cards may be a similar workload/maintenance to using Ibotta, Inc. I imagine. How this could work: Jerry wants to buy a $50 backyard game called Kubb via Amazon. (It’s a great game, highly recommend, link in comments.) Via the gift card marketplace, there is $50 worth of Amazon gift cards available. $5.82 from Jenny, $6.98 from Phillip, $7.90 from Harold, etc. Jerry purchases the $50 game at a 10% “discount”. Cash of $45 to your marketplace, and marketplace transacts with $50 worth of gift cards to Amazon. $25 of the cash gets paid out to the various gift card holders, leaving the company with $20 cash. That’s around 44% gross margins. Change that discount and gift card holder payout percentage, and the gross margins quickly climb. What do you think? Worth the effort for customers? Or should I just continue to give my leftover gift cards as white elephant gifts? 🐘 #pricing #operations #efficiency #businessideas
