🌟 Navigating the AI Application Obstacle Course: My Journey and Insights🌟 As someone actively applying to various companies and meeting the qualifications, I've encountered a significant hurdle: AI-driven application screening. It’s disheartening to see my applications and carefully crafted resumes often rejected by algorithms before they even reach human eyes. 🤖 **Why is this happening?** AI is designed to streamline the hiring process, but it can sometimes overlook qualified candidates due to: 1. AI scans for specific keywords related to the job description. If your resume lacks these exact terms, it might be filtered out. 2. Non-standard formats can confuse AI systems, leading to misinterpretation of your experience and skills. 3. AI can struggle to understand context and nuanced qualifications that make you a perfect fit for the role. Here are some things I’m doing to overcome this! 1. Tailor my resume and cover letter with keywords from the job description. I also use tools like Jobscan to help identify these terms and to along my resume with the job description. 2. I’ve started to use clean, simple, and standard resume formats. Avoid graphics, columns, and unconventional layouts. 3. Whenever possible(if possible) I reach out directly to recruiters or hiring managers via LinkedIn or email. Let’s work together to ensure our talents and experiences are recognized. I logged in to Linkedin Recruiter today and they have "improved" the technology with AI. Create a search and AI will generate the list of qualified candidates. I'm always game to try something new, so I generated a search for a current position I'm looking to fill. The results were unqualified people who had never held the title I asked it to search for...some never even worked in the industry. For everyone worried about AI reviewing and screening resumes, let me tell you what every recruiter knows... We will likely get there ONE DAY, but that day is not today. Resumes are not being rejected by AI. They are being reviewed by humans and humans are making the decisions. #hiring #resumes #AI
