Are EVs winning the race in the Middle East? As the world accelerates its efforts to ‘go green’ and combat the climate crisis of global warming, sales of electric vehicles are surging. Globally, battery-powered vehicles accounted for around 20% of new car sales in 2023. Wherever one looks, friends and neighbors appear to be purchasing green vehicles at an electrifying pace. In our new Jameel Motors Insights article, we examine the Middle East’s apparent slower uptake of EVs and highlight the signs that a lack of appetite in the region may be changing. Some critics of electric vehicles make the legitimate point that electric vehicles (EVs) are not zero carbon. They may be zero emissions at the tailpipe but not throughout their lifecycle. So how do they compare to a gasoline-fueled vehicle? The Union of Concerned Scientists has crunched the numbers. Watch this short video to learn more. From a local perspective, the electrification of personal mobility is coming. Getting ahead of this transition will ensure your community is an enabler and not a passive bystander - or worse a barrier - to their adoption. While electrification will reduce the emissions associated with personal mobility, it will not address the growing unsustainability of a transportation system for personal mobility which continues to consume too much space in the urban environment. That is why reducing average trip length and promoting non-automobile transportation modes are also key measures to building more equitable and climate friendly cities. #energyconscious

Insights from the US market about Biden’s EV push ⚡️ The White House has announced an ambitious plan to phase out the majority of new petrol-powered cars by 2032 in an effort to curb carbon emissions and combat global warming. The new rules require carmakers to meet ambitious pollution limits so that by 2032, electric vehicles (EVs) will make up about 56% of new sales. The plan builds on two pieces of legislation that have made $245 billion available to support EVs. Sales of EVs in the US grew by about 46% last year to a record 1.2 million, increasing their market share to 7.6% of total vehicle sales. Sales of hybrid cars also grew by about 65%, making up eight per cent of sales. By the time the legislation is fully implemented, it is projected to have prevented more than seven billion tons of carbon emissions and yielded "nearly $100 billion of annual net benefits to society", such as improvements in health due to reduced air pollution. However, Republicans have already signified they will fight back against the plans. What do you think about these new plans? Do you think it's a step in the right direction for combatting climate change? #EVs #climatechange #sustainability

Did you know? Burning 1 liter of petrol produces around 2.3 kilograms of CO2. To combat climate change, countries worldwide are implementing standards to reduce CO2 emissions and improve fuel efficiency in new passenger cars. Check out our latest chart featuring countries with the lowest CO2 emissions per km from new passenger cars! 🚗 Read More: https://lnkd.in/d6VXzJBQ #climatechange #climateaction #sustainability #sustainabletransportation

🚗⚡️ Fact of the Week ⚡️🚗 Did you know that electric vehicles can cut global warming emissions by over half? 🔹 Driving the average EV in Pennsylvania produces 2.7 fewer metric tons of emissions per year compared to driving a gasoline-powered car getting 30 miles per gallon. 🔹 From manufacturing to disposal, EVs produce less than half the heat-trapping emissions of equivalent gas-powered cars. Plus, as we switch to more solar and wind power, EVs will only get cleaner! Source: Union of Concerned Scientists 🔗https://lnkd.in/g-Ky-XiR . . . EV misinformation will be the #1 barrier to greater adoption. The stats around discrediting proven climate solutions such as EVs have increased substantially over the last several years. Blurring together real statistics/technology advancements with misinformation/myths hinders the public's perception on the benefits of EVs. Check out this op-ed on EV misinformation by my colleagues at Clean Energy Canada in the National Observer.
"While straight-up denying the existence of climate change has declined by a third (harder to do when we’re all feeling it), videos discrediting climate solutions, like EVs, have more than tripled," write Clean Energy Canada's Trevor Melanson and Joanna Kyriazis. Elected Officials to Protect America's 'Health and #Energy Security' EV Tour kicks off in New Jersey from June 3 to 5. According to MIT News (https://lnkd.in/gHpXSHrh), air #pollution causes approximately 200,000 premature deaths annually in the U.S., with vehicle emissions being the largest contributor, accounting for about 53,000 of these deaths each year. All those #emissions from cars, trucks, and other #vehicles are making global warming worse and causing problems like extreme weather, rising sea levels, and damage to ecosystems. As the #climate clock is ticking, there is the need to transition quickly to electric vehicles which have the potential to cut down emissions drastically. Join us on our ”Health and #Energy Security” Electric Vehicle (EV) Tour. In New Jersey from June 3 to June 5 - Monday to Wednesday, EOPA will host a dinner with elected officials, staff, and partners to #educate and exchange perspectives and messaging on electric vehicles and #offshore wind with participants. We will also hold a press conference the next day, followed by an #electric vehicle demonstration for participants to experience the electric vehicles to gain firsthand experience with EVs. Visit our site today for more information: https://lnkd.in/deZfX3r6 #ElectricVehicleTour #CleanTransportation #ClimateAction #EOPA #ElectedOfficials #GreenTechnology #SustainableMobility #RenewableEnergy

I think this is the biggest problem to EV adoption. There is a natural desire to be curious about Evs from others but the way the approach EV owners is from a negative way. I am always approached by others I never met with, "Have you herd about (insert latest negative headline here)". They are curious in how EV drivers defend negative news and not why we choose to drive an EV.
