As I began my journey into media strategy, a recurring statement loomed: “If you can do Pharmaceutical Marketing, then you can do anything.” However, does the job market truly value the skills we’re acquiring? I certainly believe it does. While there are notable differences between pharmaceutical, tech B2B, consumer packaged goods (CPG), and fashion marketing strategies, they share underlying needs and principles. Working in advertising, particularly with pharmaceutical clients, has taught me invaluable lessons—both interpersonal and technical. From building rapport with lead stakeholders to mastering the complexities of highly regulated industries making us extremely detail-oriented, I’ve gained the expertise to position challenging brands in front of the right audience. This includes educating consumers and fostering awareness, to ultimately drive consideration for important medications. Each stage of the process— from ideation, planning, execution, measurement, and optimization—yielded insights that are transferable across diverse industries and teams. For example, I worked on a unique brand targeting a low-incidence disease, which presented several challenges: a small, niche audience, the sensitive nature of the topic, and stringent FDA regulatory compliance. Despite these obstacles, we successfully helped tailor ad copy to meet consumer needs, developed resonant creative assets, and leveraged channels such as point-of-care (POC) platforms, key opinion leaders (KOLs), television, and digital media. Year after year, we conducted thorough research to understand the consumer's lifestyle and story, identifying gaps in competitors’ strategies, and exploring new opportunities. One breakthrough came when we discovered an untapped Spanish-speaking audience for the brand. This insight led to an innovative strategy, helping the brand evolve its presence by reaching and resonating with a previously overlooked demographic.

Understanding the Stages of Your Audience for Effective Marketing! 📊 Before you dive into marketing your product, it’s crucial to understand the different stages of your audience: 1. Product Aware They know about your product but need to understand its benefits better. 2. Mid Product Aware They have some knowledge about your product but haven’t seen the full value yet. 3. Fully Aware They know everything about your product and are likely to make a decision soon. 4. Unaware They don’t know your product exists or how it can help them. Why is this important? 🤔 First, define your audience and communicate with them according to the stage they’re in. Create strategies specific to each stage to effectively convert leads into customers. 🚫 Don’t try to target all types of audiences at the same time.
