Also, please check SEF's new Head Start report below. We suggest updating and improving the inequitable school funding formula. For those who do not know, Head Start funding can significantly impact children in high-poverty areas by providing access to early childhood education, health, and nutrition services. This support helps improve school readiness, cognitive development, and long-term academic success. Equitable funding ensures that children in the most disadvantaged communities receive the necessary resources to thrive.
The Southern Education Foundation's new report, Strengthening Support for Our Youngest Children: Steps for Improving Head Start, reveals an urgent issue: federal Head Start funding isn't distributed equitably. According to the report, federal Head Start funding is falling short in high-poverty areas, and communities with greater needs are receiving less support. Head Start has proven benefits for children, but to reach more families, we need a new funding formula and substantial catch-up funding. Let’s ensure all children have access to the benefits of Head Start. Read the full report to learn more: https://lnkd.in/ecvvNwE3

If we aren't advocating for ALL students, their futures, and the principles of equity and justice, you shouldn't be in education. Advocacy is the cornerstone of effective teaching, ensuring that EVERY child has the opportunity to thrive and succeed. This means speaking out against the horrors happening in Palestine. Too many of us are too image-conscious, focusing on classroom decoration, differentiation, or obtaining high ratings. Where are the signs of YOUR humanity? Advocating for students means advocating for ALL students. We do not pick whose life is more valuable than another's. Our students depend on us as their voices, champions, and allies. We must stand up for their needs, challenge the status quo, and push for meaningful changes. If you’re not ready to advocate for ALL and speak out on critical issues, then education isn’t the place for you. #FreePalestine
