Youtuber and Documentary Video editor

#5 As Video editors, we often come across job postings like We are looking for a video editor, profecient in motion graphics, Animation, Colouring, graphic design, sound mixer, lighting specialist etc. That's not a video editor, that's an entire post-production team. An editor is just a member of the team. Some of these job posters don't understand the profession clearly. One year ago, I came across a similar job post. I didn't have all those skills but decided to apply anyway. I got the job. HOW? The client asked for a test edit. The test edit didn't even need the arfomentioned skills. Infact, the client was so happy that i did such a clean job since it was the actual video project he was to use in marketing his Real estate venture. Lesson: Don't ignore a job posting because it looks intimidating. Apply anyway. Real clients ask for test edits just to be sure of your capabilities. (30 second test edit, not a whole 30 minute video. So be careful of scams.) That's day 5 of sharing my knowledge to my fellow editors. PEACE.

Like I get asking for an editor who knows after effects meaning the client doesn't know the industry but wants a motion designer but if they want a generalist that is not realistic in terms of workload
