In continuing support of Eating Disorder Sufferers: Shockingly in 2023, Just four of the planned sixteen Specialist Multidisciplinary Eating Disorder teams promised in 2016 as part of the HSE Model of Care Plan for eating disorders which was originally supposed to be a five year plan are operational. Children, teenagers and adults up and down the country continue to suffer unnecessarily by being denied timely access to appropriate care from properly trained multidisciplinary teams specialising in eating disorders. It is time for the HSE which in my opinion can best be described as a monolithic bureaucratic multilayered mishmash of incompetence to be held accountable and responsible for comprehensively failing eating disorder sufferers in Ireland.
