My latest article, "Concluding Conflict: Why Ending War is Never an Easy Strategy," examines why it is increasingly harder to end the growing number of conflicts the United States finds ourselves part of. The article examines how these impediments do not just occur once a conflict begins but are heavily influenced by actions or in actions left of bang. Central to my argument is the importance of defining objectives early and reassess them continually. https://lnkd.in/erZGNw5r As always I am happy to discuss or debate any points or positions of anything I publicly publish. #stratergy #warandpeace #theoryofvictory #victorydisease

James Micciche well done. I also think our National Strategic uniformed and civilian leaders need moral courage to put their rank on the table for decisions from political and elected leaders. GEN Shinseki warned that more forces were needed for the occupation of Iraq than for the invasion, and he was replaced. He provides a great example of scoping advice on the true cost (resources, manpower, time) of a military intervention.
