Say hello to Detective Constable Stuart Taylor at #TeamNP 👮♂️👋 Stuart first joined TeamNP in October 2006, and after 6 years service is now a Detective in our High Impact Team. With over 50+ officer roles there's a wealth of opportunities when it comes to how you spend your time in force. Before his current role, Stuart had spent time as a frontline officer in response, tackling serious violence, knife crime and criminal activity in the disruption unit, and in our burglary team amongst other departments 🚔 Growing up, Stuart enjoyed listening to the tales and experiences of his uncle, a retired Chief Superintendent, and it was those stories paired with a career prospect of 'no two days the same' that inspired Stuart to apply. Stuart says what he enjoys most about his day-to-day as a detective is "the diversity. If you'd have asked me earlier in my career I'd have said the variety of the jobs I attended but now, it's the satisfaction of putting offenders in prison and getting justice." 💬 The role of a detective is a challenging one, and balancing your career alongside your personal life and family can also be difficult. Stuart says the most challenging part of the role is "meeting the expectations of victims of crime. You can be working unsociable hours and have a large workload, but there are many support mechanisms in place to assist you in achieving a good work life balance." "Despite the challenges, this role is hugely rewarding and meeting those expectations is hugely satisfying. You can go home knowing you've made a difference in improving public confidence through interactions with victims, identifying offenders and securing convictions." Response officers are often the first on the scene of any incident, from collisions on the roads to domestic abuse incidents or burglaries in progress.
