I would add that: 1. they will bring forward a draft Bill that will never get passed into law for the reasons set out below (the Tories found it impossible to draft a Bill that is ‘Cass compliant’!) 2. this Bill had to be listed because it’s a ‘Manifesto promise’ which is FREE I.e. it costs the government nothing. However if such a Bill was to pass into law it would certainly have a chilling effect on therapists (who are increasingly unwilling to work with children and young people).

#IDAHOBIT2024 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️ ❤️ A very important day in the calendar. 📆 Today, we proudly celebrate the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). Despite the challenges we face, including 62 UN member states still criminalising consensual same-sex relations and 59 countries restricting freedom of expression related to sexual and gender diversity, we remain resilient and united. While 35 countries have legalised marriage equality and 16 have banned conversion therapies, there’s still work to be done. Only 38 countries protect individuals from hate crimes based on gender identity, and just 5 do so for sex characteristics. So, let’s stand tall and celebrate our diversity ensuring nobody gets left behind. 🌈✊

Interesting insights from Stonewall on #IDAHOBIT. The UK used to be #1 in Europe for LGBTQ+ rights, and we're now listed at #16. Why? And what we can do? It's the easiest thing in the world to say that you don't want these things 'shoved down your throat', but we still have significant inequality for LGBTQ+ people within our society and our workplaces. There are actions we can all take to address this.

When a person approaches us for help, instead of assuming a heteronormative identity or relationship, we now keep the interview questions open. We are aware that to provide proper support to the community, we need to gather a vast amount of knowledge and experience. Creating a sense of belonging for all of our people is a central tenet of our firm. This includes all of our transgender, nonbinary, gender-expansive and other LGBTQ+ colleagues. From the recently concluded 2024 Community Needs Assessment Survey, with a sample size of 340 LGBTQ+ Jamaicans, this one of the major findings:👇👇👇 One in three LGBTQ+ people feel unsafe living in Jamaica with over 83% of them experience some form of violence in their lifetime. This represents a 10.6% increase in respondents indicating experiences of lifetime violence experiencing since the 2019 study. It is reported that the most common form of assault experienced by LGBTQ+ Jamaicans is verbal threats. Queer Jamaicans continue to be fearful of physical assaults and other forms violence in their day to day lives. Bears & Gaymers, two LGBTQ+ niches worth nearly $400 billion dollars a year in the US alone Richard Jones, Robin Gray, Gray Jones Media The LGBTQ+ community is a wonderful melting pot of multiple niche communities that unite under the one rainbow umbrella. However, the power of some of these niches within the community stand out with significant consumer power.
