Happy 1st of Thout (Ⲑⲱⲟⲩⲧ) 1741 Nayrouz Feast Nayrouz is the crown of the year, the festival used to be much more widespread and celebrated by both Christian and Muslim Egyptians. The Coptic year is the extension of the ancient Egyptian civil year, retaining its subdivision into the three seasons, four months each. The three seasons are commemorated by special prayers in the Coptic Liturgy. This calendar is still in use all over Egypt by farmers to keep track of the various agricultural seasons. The Coptic calendar has 13 months, 12 of 30 days each and one at the end of the year of five days (six days in leap years). The First Month of the Coptic year is Ⲑⲱⲟⲩⲧ (Thoth) god of Wisdom and Science. The Coptic calendar’s association with martyrs goes back to the era of Emperor Diocletian, during which Christians were subjected to much persecution and injustice. The ancient Egyptian calendar was zeroed during the reign of Diocletian, so the year 284 AD was Coptic 1, which is the year 4525 according to the ancient Egyptian calendar, so Coptic history began from this year. The history is called the history of the pure martyrs. 4525 ancient calender + 1741 Coptic Callander —-> 6266 years of the Egyptian great history.
