This is a very good explanation of toxic management behavior I unfortunately have seen too often, and especially in PE backed ventures (solely based on profit and ROI) and owners (control at all cost). Toxic management is contrary to team building and building a culture of competence and empowerment, that delivers results.

🚨Understanding Toxic Management Behaviors🚨 In today's fast-paced work environment, effective leadership is crucial. However, certain management behaviors can undermine both team spirit and productivity. This visual breaks down some of the most harmful toxic management practices: Micro-Management: Stifles innovation and erodes trust. Withholding Information: Creates a culture of secrecy and impedes decision-making. Playing Favorites: Erodes team morale and fairness. Being Unavailable: Leaves employees feeling unsupported and uncertain. Divide to Control: Destroys team unity and fosters competitive dynamics. Thinking Leadership is a Position: Focuses on command and control, missing the essence of true leadership. Only Seeing the ROI in HR: Treats employees as mere resources, which can lead to burnout. These behaviors not only impact the individual's job satisfaction but also the overall health of an organization. As leaders, it's essential to foster a positive and inclusive environment where every team member can thrive. #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture #HumanResources #Management

The thing to keep in mind: does it take just one of these components to undo the whole structure or should they all be considered when it comes to the work environment?

There is a questionable strategy that leaders apply to change things. The general strategy is as follows: - We first need to change peoples' mindset (i.e., "you have to be more autonomous"). - When people change their mindset, they change their behavior (i.e., employees act more autonomously). - When people change their behavior, they will then change the way they work (i.e. work practices and processes). - The business will perform better. Unfortunately, this strategy is based on flawed logic. You cannot change other people's mindsets by telling them to do so. In fact, simply forcing people to change their mindset will not work. It is impossible. Read on to learn about an alternative approach. #Leadership #LeadershipDevelopment #EmployeeEngagement #WorkplaceCulture #Management

🌱 Effective People Management: A Psychological Approach 🌱 In today's diverse workplace, successful people management goes beyond task delegation. It’s about understanding the psychological drivers that motivate and inspire your team. Here are three psychological principles that have shaped my approach to leadership: Empathy & Emotional Intelligence: Great leaders are empathetic. By actively listening and showing genuine concern for your team's emotional well-being, you foster trust and loyalty. Emotional intelligence allows you to connect on a deeper level, which enhances collaboration and productivity. Autonomy & Empowerment: People thrive when they feel empowered to make decisions. Granting autonomy not only shows trust but also stimulates creativity and accountability. Studies show that individuals perform better when they feel a sense of ownership over their work. Positive Reinforcement: Recognizing achievements, big or small, motivates employees to maintain or even exceed their performance. Positive reinforcement taps into intrinsic motivation, leading to a more engaged and committed workforce. People are at the heart of any successful business, and understanding the psychology behind motivation, engagement, and well-being is key to fostering a productive, harmonious environment. 🔑 After all, a happy team is a productive team! #Leadership #PeopleManagement #PsychologyAtWork #EmotionalIntelligence #TeamBuilding #EmployeeEngagement
