What’s the most creative place you’ve pitched from? Let me share mine... It was the end of a beautiful day on a tiny island in Indonesia 🌞 Despite being on a so-called "vacation", I was full of energy, preparing to pitch our vision to a US-based investor. Our groundbreaking idea? Disrupting the learning and development space with a revolutionary learning infrastructure 🚀 With no desk in sight, I turned my trusty luggage into a workstation 💼 (special shout-out to that turquoise suitcase that traveled the world 🌍 before meeting its end in Porto, during the inncivio launch with Félix and Anna). 🌟 The source of inspiration "Local Regeneration" 🌿 Kotaro Abe is the one bringing the inspiration of becoming a global startup hub to Hokkaido ecosystem 🌏 Four years ago Kotaro came to Hokkaido and said "Hokkaido has a lot of potentials to start a global conference 🔥" Since then Kotaro, some members from Startup City Sappro (now became STARTUP HOKKAIDO), TechBBQ and Nicklas started to discuss how to start a global conference from a scratch. We successfully delivered the first global conference in 2023 - TechBBQ Sapporo ⛄️✨ This year, Kotaro built a concept "Local Regeneration" in order to invite more local partners from the local community in Hokkaido to seek for the regenerative community that is built from the ground up 🫶 The concept became the core of Hokkaido Innovation Week to align the value with all the programs and speakers. The values also applied to food and drinks that we all enjoyed 🤤 🍻 Beer from a local beer brewery 🍣 Fish for sushi from the ocean sorrounding Hokkaido 🐟 Fish soup that is made with the bony parts of fish (tasty dashi & umami!) Kotaro really knows what's the best - the concept to pursue, local foods and arts. Combining all the good stuff from Hokkaido and sticking to the core concept, we could built the Hokkaido Innovation Week filled with uniqueness and originality rooted in Hokkaido ⛄️❤️ Thank you Kotaro for being so stubborn that all of us always remembered what to pursue, whom to collaborate with, and how to grow this ecosystem ✨💪 Without you always reminding us what is the direction of startup ecosystem should look like while following #Nordic way, Hokkaido ecosystem could have been a "cliché" that does not have any unique competitive advantage. 🟢 Growing Ideas, Nurturing Collaborations with HAOSHi Market Immersion Program supported by Innovation Factory Indonesia 🟢 Innovation Factory is honored to host Taiwanese Startups from the Haoshi Foundation Market Immersion Program for three days, 23-25 July 2024. MAP with Startup Terrace Kaohsiung Bridges New Explorations and Connections ✨ Innovation Factory, supported by Startup Terrace Kaohsiung, successfully conducted the Market Access & Startup Exchange Program, on 15-19 July 2024, aimed to connect Taiwanese startups with the Indonesian market. The program kicked off with introductions and workshops on the Indonesian market, followed by company visits to various Indonesian corporates and government associations. Our program also built connections with #MatchmakingSession that brought Taiwanese and Indonesian startups together, closed by #FoundersNight Networking Dinner 🎆 Grateful for the five incredible startups who joined us along the adventure in the metropolitan city of Jakarta: Enoch International Trading, JGB Smart Property, Sea Sonic Energy, Artemis Medical Devices, and V-Check. Thank you so much for an amazing stay in #Hokkaido and #Japan, Miho Tanaka and Hokkaido Innovation Week! It has been a truly inspiring journey, allowing me to introduce Avisomo #verticalfarming systems to the Hokkaido region and the Japanese market in general. Hokkaido is one of the most prominent food production regions in Japan, with the Tokachi subprefecture alone boasting an impressive 1200% food self-sufficiency! I now fully comprehend why Japanese cuisine is one of the most acclaimed on the planet; I do not think I’ve ever eaten this much good and exciting food in such a short period before. Time to shed some weight. However, as with most regions on the planet right now, Japan is also facing severe food production challenges due to #climatechange, and the summer of 2023 saw record-breaking levels of crop failure in all of Japan’s prefectures. Seeing how our systems and approach can help alleviate these challenges, it is very inspiring to learn about and consider how we can partake in Hokkaido’s forward-leaning startup ecosystem building and Japan’s green technology transition. Japan has now launched the world’s largest Green transition fund - Gx - green bonds to the total value of USD 1TN over the next decade! Should be interesting for all green startups who are looking for their next market opportunity. Along with strong corporate structures looking for international innovations and a trust-based business culture, it looks like a good match for nordic companies. To summarize: Can’t wait to be back, probably in not too long! Oh and I almost forgot: So happy I got to DJ a bit during the event as well! An honour to introduce some Nordic house and Oslo space disco as part of the cultural exchange program. I’m hereby officially adding my new product «DJ-set x vertical farming market development analysis» to my conference package.
