As I was scrolling my social media pages a few days ago, I came across this graphic on centering by @buildingmovementproject In this work it's important in the pursuit of social justice...these conversations matter. They shape our understanding, challenge our biases, and pave the way for meaningful change. However, to truly drive progress, we must ensure these conversations center the voices and experiences of those most affected by inequality. ✨ Why It’s Important: Amplify Marginalized Voices: Too often, those directly impacted by social injustice are spoken about rather than spoken with. Shifting focus to these voices ensures more authentic narratives and solutions. Create Space for Accountability: By fostering open dialogues, we encourage institutions and individuals to reflect on their roles in perpetuating or dismantling systemic inequalities. Build Sustainable Change: Lasting impact is driven by inclusive, community-led efforts. Listening and learning from diverse perspectives strengthens the entire movement. 💡 As advocates, leaders, and allies, it’s crucial to elevate these conversations in our organizations and communities. The change we seek starts when we listen and act intentionally. How are you centering the voices of those who need to be heard the most? Let’s continue the conversation. *Centering was highlighted from the Building Movement Project's Practice Guide ✨The Solidarity is Practice Guide invites people, networks, and organizations to imagine solidarity as a set of practices grounded in six core principles: Centering, Connections, Commonalities, Co-conspiratorship, Co-liberation and Capacity. 🌱 Learn more and access the guide at the link at https://lnkd.in/ePW646xD #SocialJustice #InclusiveLeadership #Equity #CommunityEngagement #Diversityandinclusion #VoicesMatter

Breaking the Chains of Systemic Oppression: A Call to Action In today’s world, conversations around privilege and systemic inequality can sometimes feel uncomfortable. But this discomfort is necessary. It's not about assigning blame for history; rather, it’s about acknowledging how historical systems of oppression still shape our present and taking responsibility for dismantling them. This isn’t a plea for apologies; it’s a call for action. Each of us, in some way, benefits from systems that were designed to favour certain groups over others—systems built long before our time but perpetuated by silence, inaction, and ignorance. We must ask ourselves: What are we doing to challenge these structures? Are we using our privilege to amplify marginalized voices, advocate for equity, and demand accountability? Let’s move beyond guilt or defensiveness and focus on meaningful change. Whether in the workplace, in education, or in our communities, let’s build a future that is just, equitable, and inclusive for all. How are you contributing to this effort in your field or community? Let’s exchange ideas and inspire action together. #SocialJustice #Inclusion #Equity #SystemicChange

SHIFTING POWER CAN HELP COMMUNITIES GROW- It can’t be about us if it is not with us. -Adopt a power-sharing approach, where systems actors shift their dominant role, positionality, or component of the system -Take a more mutual and interdependent approach and open up opportunities for those with less leverage and power to step into greater ownership and responsibility -Modeling power-sharing and centering those most impacted within the systems change process -Change who is at the table to directly address racial inequities and integrate a power-sharing model by forging long-term relationships with community power building organizations that often represent and are made up of people and communities most impacted by inequities

❗ LGBTQI+ people are often at greater risk when in conflict. In different parts of the world, during volatile times, they are left to fend for themselves due to discrimination and lack of community support. 💡 Listening to LGBTQI+ voices is vital for building robust and cohesive societies that quickly recover from conflict and don't relapse into violence. Alert's 'Breaking the Binary' report details ten actions for governments, donors and civil society to make this a reality: https://bit.ly/3RMaEv1 #PrideMonth #HumanRightsForAll

Today, as we observe World Social Justice Day, let us take a moment to reflect upon the plight of those who are marginalized, oppressed, and overlooked. It is a day where we unite under the common goal of creating a fair and just society for all, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, or social status. In a world where hunger, poverty, discrimination, and inequality persist, it is crucial to empathize with those who face these challenges daily, and to truly understand the struggles of others, we must cultivate empathy and compassion within ourselves. It is through this deep connection that we can begin to comprehend the pain, the hardships, and the injustices that many endure. For those who are victims of discrimination and injustice, know that your voices are being heard. We stand with you in solidarity, recognizing the importance of amplifying your stories in order to bring about lasting change. We acknowledge that your fight for equality is not merely a struggle for yourselves, but for the betterment of society as a whole. Let us remember the immense power that lies within the collective. By joining together, we have the ability to challenge and dismantle systems of oppression, to uplift marginalized voices, and to promote true equality. On this occasion, we also celebrate the progress that has been made in the fight for social justice. It is a testament to the resilience and determination of countless individuals who have dedicated their lives to advocating for equality. It serves as a reminder that change is possible, and that every small act of resistance can contribute to a larger movement. May we continue to strive towards a world free from systemic injustices, where social justice is not an ideal, but a fundamental reality for everyone. Let us pledge to be the catalysts of change, the champions of social justice, and the voices for the voiceless. Together, we can create a world where justice prevails, where love reigns, and where social justice is no longer just a concept, but a tangible reality for all. #socialjusticeforall #justiceforall

When we are privileged, we often enjoy our position, and some people use it for their own or their loved ones' benefit, without understanding that this privilege is built on the struggles of others. But when we find ourselves in an underprivileged position, that very privilege makes us feel deep anger and pain. We feel as though society has left us behind, less than others, and this inequality forces us to endure. We cannot accept it because it wounds our soul. Enduring that wound is incredibly hard, and often we feel like we are not a part of the system, but its victim. In this inner conflict, all we experience is despair and depression, and our voices are stifled in the hope for change. Every person in society has, at some point, felt this reality; it’s just that we need to make small changes within ourselves. We need to develop empathy, so we can understand that even the most marginalized person is a part of this system, and we can feel what they are going through in the face of inequality. We must ask ourselves if they are being tormented by this social injustice. If we cultivate this quality within ourselves, we will be able to create a better society with better individuals. I believe the path to any real change is paved with respect. Today, the fight in society is for respect and equality. As an orgnisation we are determined to create a society where every underprivileged people got equal opportunity.
