7 Promises for today

I have noticed that, increasingly, life is presenting me with opportunities to be reminded of the power of community, the power of connection, both in personal life and in professional relationships. We can tap into this powerful resource when we decide to keep our hearts truly open, while not losing ourselves. It is possible. Leadership can feel lonely. Running your own business can feel lonely. Being different can feel lonely. Sometimes, in this loneliness, our outlook shrinks and we stop noticing what's available to us. I encourage you to pause for a moment and tune into all the connections, communities, people who have been there for you. Maybe once. Maybe often. Notice how it instantly changes your state and your sense of what's possible. A simple but powerful practice. #resilience #leadership #community #leadershipcoaching #reflection

WHAT DO I DO NEXT? I hear this in various forms from Lead pastors all over the world. Oh, it won't be the first thing that's said or even the second, but as the conversation unfolds there are the not-too-infrequent admissions: 👉 I know something needs to change but I'm not sure specifically what. 👉 We've been plateaued for the last couple of years & I'm not quite sure how to get things moving. 👉 I'm putting on my brave, "got this" game face, but I've done everything I know to do. 👉 I've been inspired at several conferences each year but I need to know steps. 👉 If things don't shift, then I'm going to have to ask some pretty big questions. Kyle Reeves has a large following of people that follow without understanding. In his #ChristianNationalist post he presents Ben Carson (remember him?) who asks if we’re a secular nation or “one nation under God.” Here’s the thing: real Christians should know that being a secular nation is what protects our freedom to worship—or not worship—at all. The Pilgrims didn’t come here to set up a Christian government; they came for freedom from state-mandated religion. Funny how some Christian nationalists forget that. They’re all about “#religiousfreedom” until it means letting others follow their beliefs too. A secular nation ensures no one’s Bible becomes the rule of law, preserving the very freedom they claim to love. So, yes, we are a secular nation—because that’s what guarantees your right to worship without interference. If you’re serious about religious freedom, maybe thank the secular setup instead of trying to tear it down.
