QR codes are a great way to make your point-of-sale reach even further, like on these Juni Tea ElastiTags we found recently in the retail wild. The QR code delivers a coupon that, once scanned, give customers easy redemption instructions. 🤳 Considering a QR code for your point of sale promotions? There is a reason why Woolies / Coles have $1 chocolate bars right next to the cashier. The easiest customers to sell to are the ones who have just purchased from you. If it’s logistically possible, you should offer an immediate upsell with a cheaper, high-margin product immediately after a customer places an order with you. It’s an easy way to increase PROFIT from each purchase. Few ways of doing this: - One click upsell Plugin. - Email flow that triggers automatically after purchase with a limited time discount offer.

Show of hands: How many of you have gone to checkout at a store, and ended up grabbing an extra item or two from the self-checkout display? ✋ Despite more than 50% of all transactions occurring at self-checkout, one of our national retail partners was experiencing declining sales at the Front-End. *Enter #pepviz*. Insights from our proprietary data practice uncovered valuable shopper motivations, revealing how the right assortment of snacks and beverages are key to driving consumption purchase. Armed with new findings, the collaboration yielded an immediate lift to all Front-End categories, including routine and impulse purchases. A great article (and quick read) that looks into how reworking the self checkout approach guided by shopper insights and data can help grow a key spot in store (the Front End).

Give your customers a shortcut, and they’ll think of you 2x as much. This morning I was listening to the Kinko’s story on How I Built This. When they were thinking of moving to being open 24/7, he consulted the Sheetz founder. Sheetz reverted from 24/7 hours to closing during early morning hours because they didn’t make much revenue during the middle of the night. Closing from 1am-5am led them to lose half of their daytime sales. Why? When you have a simple shortcut of “Sheetz is open 24/7,” you don’t even have to think about where to go when you’re looking for convenience. There’s one bar in São Paulo open 24/7 (Riviera, it’s amazing!) and there are so many times I’ve ended up there because I just knew it was open. Meanwhile, I have to constantly check if a bakery around the corner from my house is open because they switch between opening 8am, 8:30, 9, etc. 8am is a logical hour to open operationally, but if I knew the bakery always opened at 4am, a time that’s memorable because it’s extremely early, I wouldn’t even have to think about it. How can you introduce a shortcut so your customers don’t even have to think, therefore think of you first? I’d love to know if others have examples of this! P.S. I believe this is called a heuristic, but I'm no psych expert 😉
