"I just don't know what to say..." It's a phrase I get sent a lot when people need support to figure out the right words to get something across. This can be because the situation is complex and you're talking to someone who is combative, defensive, or unknown to you, or because you are in a new situation and have never had to troubleshoot how to handle it before. I've gotten even more recently because June is a month of big transitions. For me, school is ending (I'll have a third grader!!!), seasons are changing, people are gearing up for travel, our brains are full! It's no wonder I've gotten more requests for help figuring out what to say in different scenarios. Fortunately, I have a pretty foolproof way to get your message across in any situation. Get this method and more in my newsletter that goes out tomorrow! You can sign up using the link below to get this bi-weekly newsletter that is full of reader questions, recommendations, and thoughts and perspectives on how to have better workplaces. https://lnkd.in/grtWkqpC

"Your life will not magically exceed your standards. Improve your boundaries and life improves too." 🧨Spark your interest ? It did for me today. Or rather, it caught my attention and gratitude. The message arrived in my inbox as a subscriber to James Cleary's 3*2-1 newsletter. https://lnkd.in/gmvXPEA7 As a person in transition after a rewarding career in secondary education, this is a great reminder. During this change the excitement of new opportunities is followed by fear and uncertainty. It's been a long time since I looked for a job, but I'm thankful I was taught to align with my purpose and joy. So, I did. (One part-time job I had for about 5 years - while I was a full-time educator - was helping customers at Richardson Bike Mart. Besides the extra cash, the job expanded my social circle, combined physical fitness with earning money, and I talked with people all day. Sometimes teaching them to ride bikes!) 🙏 So, today I am thankful for the reminder about holding boundaries. This starting point helps me not to worry about "all those job postings I didn't apply to but should have because that is what a job seeker should do, right?" Instead, I organize my week with specific goals. And I lean into my strategic thinking: ❓ Does the job description generate excitement? ❓ Is the organization engaged in a mission I value? ❓ Are there new ways for me to grow and extend my skills? ❓ Is it something I want to do? Meant to do? Feel called to do? Beta Readers. This topic is a whole bag of mixed information. It's quite normal for writers to feel apprehensive or to dive straight in with no concept of the value or common mistakes made when it comes to using beta readers. So, what did I do? I built a handy dandy little detailed guide, and it's landing in inboxes this evening at 5:30pm AEST. If you want to be one of the lucky recipients to receive a value-packed email detailing what beta readers do, why you might work with them, and when you should engage with them, then subscribe via the link below. https://lnkd.in/guAtcvM4
