When you build trusting relationships with your customers, you become part of the team.

When you reach the top job, remember that to keep your technical skills at the back of your head that will give you confidence but leave the team to debate/argue technical solutions until they reach agreement/ consensus. You may have different solution, if you state it, you will undermine the team creaitavity/ experience, next time they will wait for your solution.
