Since August this year, the attention of the sailing world has been focused on Barcelona for the 174th America's Cup—not only the oldest sailing competition, but the oldest competition in any sport in the world! How did METS Technology get involved in the world's oldest and most prestigious sailing event? METS, together with its customer and main system integrator TESYA Group (CGT S.p.A., Finanzauto and other companies), supplied the Energy Management System and Automation for the electric hybrid propulsion system for two high-speed hydrogen-powered hydrofoil boats built by Italian yacht designer Bluegame. At last year's Cannes show, Bluegame unveiled the first of two vessels designed to meet the event's strict protocol, which requires a 10-metre boat powered entirely by hydrogen, fitted with foils and capable of speeds of up to 50 knots. Bluegame said: "Over the following 12 months, the vessel underwent intensive testing to ensure it could sail stably and at high speeds even in unfavorable sea conditions. Regardless of the race outcome, Bluegame has already won." Our Senior Automation Engineer, Nicklas Karlsson, who has been involved throughout the extensive commissioning of the two hydrogen/battery powered America's Cup chase boats, Americas Magic and Orient Express, said: "This project has been truly unique, with special equipment and ambitious goals such as safe and reliable flying on foils and reaching the target of 50 knots. Key aspects throughout the project have been lightweight design, high performance and close teamwork. We have gained valuable experience working with suppliers of various components, from fuel cells to flight control systems. Through our combined efforts we have successfully developed an integrated MIAS system that controls the entire boat in a user-friendly way. The America's Cup teams have learnt how to use the boats, and it has been an exciting and satisfying conclusion to see the finished boats flying through the waters of Barcelona at the team bases and during the races". #maritime

We’re thrilled to play our part in making sailing more accessible to young people, especially as more women continue to stay involved in the sport than ever before. This past weekend, 84 students from 10 universities across Norway competed fiercely in the Student National Championship, racing the same J/70 boats used in the Norwegian Sailing League—proudly sponsored by Höegh Autoliners. The league format has been key in keeping more sailors active, even after they begin their studies. “It has opened up sailing for many young sailors who have moved away from home and no longer have their own boats,” says Per Christian Bordal of the Norwegian Sailing Federation. As Magnus Hedemark, project manager for the Norwegian Sailing League, adds: “The Norwegian Sailing League will celebrate its 10th season next year, but the real impact has been in the past three years. Without your support, none of this would have been possible. We wouldn’t have had so many young people or women joining the league.” “What you’ve contributed to the Norwegian Sailing League has, in many ways, saved the sport of sailing from modern challenges like time constraints, rising costs, and an aging demographic.” Höegh Autoliners has proudly sponsored the Norwegian Sailing League in partnership with the Norwegian Sailing Federation since 2022. This commitment reflects our dedication to a cleaner, more sustainable maritime future and our pledge to protect the seas we traverse. Our shared values with the Norwegian Sailing Federation, focused on ocean sustainability, make us proud to sponsor the sport, ensuring that more young people can experience the joys of sailing. #CleanSeas #SailingForSustainability #HöeghAutoliners #Sailing #Maritime SailLogic// Norges Seilforbund

Plan The Sail. Sail The Plan. You’re probably too stressed to read this, so here’s the TL;DR: Shut off your screen and go sailing. You’ll thank me later. Here’s the real talk: Sailing is one of the best ways to get into flow, even when the wind’s going nuts. It teaches you to stop freaking out about the circumstances and start using them to gain speed toward your goals. The wind, the tides, the crew—none of that should stop you. You adapt, adjust, and keep moving. I’m a certified sailing instructor with US Sailing and hold a tidal certification from the Dutch CWO (basically the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and @ASA of the Netherlands). One thing they drilled into me: Plan the sail. Sail the plan. With the right knowledge, you can predict what’s coming and create a strategy for any scenario. No matter what, you keep going where you need to go. Use adverse circumstances—crazy winds and scary waves—to your advantage. By adjusting your sails, you can find a course through any storm, even beat into the wind. “Beating” is sailing into the wind, or upwind, at an angle. It’s the closest a sailboat can get to the wind since you can’t sail directly into it. With the right strategy, it’s a fast and safe course that gets you to your upwind goal, even if you have to zigzag your way there. So, what winds are currently blowing in your face, and how can you adjust your sails to use them to get upwind? P.S. If this sounds unfamiliar, stay tuned for SailingFlow at @EquineFlow, where we take leaders and throw them on a sailboat to completely rewire their strategic thinking. Is it fun? Absolutely. If it isn’t fun, what’s the point? P.P.S. In The Netherlands? Want to get certified with CWO? Check out Zeezeilers van Marken and sign up for their course on the Centurion 41. #SailingFlow #EquineFlow #AdjustYourSails #Sailing #Getoutthere
