Celebrating Women in March: Female Entrepreneurs I was so pleased to highlight just a few women-owned businesses over the past few weeks. As we close out this Women's History Month, let's take a moment to recognize and celebrate the incredible contributions of female entrepreneurs. Despite facing numerous hurdles, these women are crushing it in their respective industries. As a woman entrepreneur myself, I know firsthand the challenges we face. We often have to provide more detail to prove our capabilities, are questioned about our commitment level, and are viewed as "servicers" instead of competent business owners. And we are often "ghosted" by men which is just a normalized term for unprofessionalism. But despite these obstacles, female entrepreneurs continue to innovate and succeed. Did you know that women have invented many of the things we use every day, such as Wi-Fi, GPS, and automatic dishwashers? Women also drive 70-80% of consumer spending and are better investors than men. By 2030, women are projected to control two-thirds of global wealth. So here's my challenge to you: the next time you're requesting proposals, making decisions, or making referrals, seek out women-owned businesses first. Not only will you be supporting female entrepreneurs, but you'll also be working with some of the most competent and capable business owners out there. Let's continue to celebrate and uplift women in business every day, not just during Women's History Month.

Being visible as a female founder is fraught with challenges. Hear me out ... In order for female founders to be more visible, we need to first break down the barriers that keep the playing fields uneven. My work as a Founding Advisory Member with Female Founders Rise recognises that the tide is turning for female founders and I want to keep the spotlight firmly shining on a more inclusive, diverse, and prosperous entrepreneurial ecosystem. The good news, according to Finder, is that: 📣 almost 1 in 5 (18%) companies in the UK are led by women in 2024, more than 880,000 📣 7.5% ethnic minority female-led companies and 📣 more than 1 in 7 (15%) are mixed (both men and women). The bad news is that the funding gap is still HUGE! On average, a female founded business receives a mere £763k in funding compared to £4.7 million for male owned businesses. Let's change that ... I'm pleased to say that I am featured in the inaugural Female Founders Rise Service Based Directory, alongside 150 incredible female founded businesses. It's not enough to just see myself and other women in business pop into your feed every day. Visibility means action. It means investment, empowerment and less humility and this fantastic resource shines a spotlight on the incredible women driving innovation, leading businesses, and shaping multiple industries.
