The use of #drones and other unmanned/uncrewed systems has grown exponentially over the past decade. It is nearly impossible to pick up a magazine or read an on-line post that doesn’t refer to the use of robots in military, civilian and scientific work. Tune in as Professor John Jackson discusses “Robots that Fly, Swim and Crawl” the latest entry in our Issues in National Security lecture series: https://lnkd.in/eh6YGv-J.

The battle for control is moving underwater. I was recently quoted in an iNews article highlighting the increasing threat posed by Russia to the UK's subsea cable network. These cables are vital to our digital world, carrying the vast majority of our internet traffic and financial transactions. It's a complex issue, and I'm glad I could contribute to raising awareness. The article explores the development of autonomous submarines like the UK's "Herne," designed to defend against this emerging threat. See the full article below. Having attended the International Experts Meeting on Regulatory Framework for Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) on June 26-27, I gained valuable insights into the current challenges and opportunities in this rapidly evolving field. Key takeaways included identifying significant gaps in international laws governing UUV operations, particularly in territorial waters and maritime security. Experts emphasized the need for regulatory frameworks to keep pace with technological advancements while ensuring safety and environmental protection. The discussions also underscored the importance of international collaboration for standardized guidelines and addressing future challenges like cyber threats. The meeting concluded with a call for ongoing cooperation to create an effective regulatory framework for UUVs.

"Intrepid Shield is our full-spectrum approach to platform survivability. Executing missions in the modern battlespace is extremely challenging; platforms will be seen and will be engaged. Our platforms need a coordinated, complimentary approach to survivability to penetrate and survive, using the full electromagnetic spectrum to detect, exploit, and counter advanced threats. We call this concept Intrepid Shield." https://lnkd.in/eqiaHnAr
