#Transshipment: A Global Logistics Hub Transshipment is a crucial process in international trade where goods are transferred from one mode of transportation to another, often at a strategic location known as a transshipment hub. This process is essential for facilitating the efficient movement of goods across long distances, especially when different modes of transportation are involved. Key Components of Transshipment: Transshipment Hubs: These are strategic locations, often ports or airports, where goods are transferred between different modes of transportation. They are typically located in areas with excellent infrastructure, connectivity, and geographical advantages. Modes of Transportation: Transshipment involves the transfer of goods between various modes of transportation, including: * #Maritime: Ships are used to transport goods across oceans and seas. * #Rail:Trains are used for long-distance transportation, especially in regions with extensive rail networks. *#Air:Airplanes are used for rapid transportation of goods over long distances. *#Road:Trucks are used for shorter distances and last-mile deliveries. #Containerization:The use of standardized shipping containers greatly simplifies transshipment operations, as containers can be easily transferred between different modes of transportation without the need for extensive handling.

➡️ Lastest World Logistics News Geodis, an intermodal operator part of the French SNCF Group, launched a new rail connection from Barcelona, Spain, to Łódź, Poland. The United Arab Emirates’ railway network operator Etihad Rail has signed an agreement with COSCO’s Abu Dhabi ports subsidiary on the rail transport of goods between Khalifa Port and logistics hubs around the UAE. The “Dam2Dam” freight shuttle, which runs between the ports of Amsterdam and Rotterdam, is going to have its frequency doubled from 4 to 8 trips per week. Shippers can now also get subsidies for using the service. German-headquartered terminal and intermodal operator Contargo has acquired a 10% share in the Lille Dourges Conteneur Terminal SAS (LDCT).
