Just as pilots meticulously prepare for a flight, business leaders must navigate their companies through market conditions, growth opportunities, and competition. At first glance, the connection between these two worlds may not seem obvious, but the principles behind both share striking similarities. #mnmanufacturing, #attitude, #servantleadership, #growthonpurpose, #minnesotabusiness, #purposedriven, #giver, #twincities

Leadership Tip: Years ago, I remember sitting on a flight for work, and in the back pocket of the seat in front of me was "Sky Magazine," when Delta Air Lines used to have in-flight magazines pre-pandemic. I remember reading an article in it about very successful owner of a company, and he was asked why he was happy. He said when he created the company, his goal was to follow his dream of producing a product he believed in for others to enjoy. Then he had to start doing the business end of it, and hated it and himself. So he hired someone to run the company's financial end so he could be free to find his passion again. That was when he was happy again with himself. How often do we allow the task of doing our goals to replace the passion of following our goals? I know there will always be the "business end" of things that has to get done along our journey toward our goals, but what happens when it causes us to lose sight of why we are following our goals? Over the next couple of weeks ending this year, maybe it is time to reflect on why you do what you do. Are you still following your passion or just doing work around it? #intrinsicleadership #leadership

𝘈 𝘎𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺✈️ I had the opportunity to shadow Emmy Kabai, Chief Commercial Officer at BMT Aerospace and it was an eye-opening experience. BMT, part of the larger BMT Group, is a key player in providing manufacturing services to the aerospace industry. In my day with Emmy, I learned firsthand about the challenges and rewards of leading a dynamic commercial team in a highly competitive sector. From navigating the impacts of the COVID crisis on the aerospace market to fostering a culture of innovation through digitisation and robotics, Emmy shared invaluable lessons on leadership. Her approach—focused on empowering teams, encouraging open communication, and prioritizing customer intimacy—was both inspiring and educational. It reinforced my belief in the power of collaboration and adaptability in driving business success. 💡 One key takeaway for me was how essential it is to understand the broader context of your role and industry. Whether it's managing complex stakeholder expectations, making tough decisions under pressure, or staying ahead through innovation, the ability to think strategically while remaining flexible is critical in leadership. Thank you to Emmy and the entire BMT team for such an enriching experience. Looking forward to applying these insights as I continue my journey in the business world! #Leadership #Aerospace #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #CommercialManagement #CareerDevelopment

🌟 Future Forecast Workshop with Aviator Management Team! 🚀 Last week in Stockholm, I had an incredible day with the Aviator management team, diving into the importance of future forecasting. But why is this so crucial? Let's explore. Why Future Forecasting Matters: 🏆Anticipate Market Trends: By understanding future trends, we can anticipate shifts in the market, ensuring we stay ahead of the competition. 🏆Innovative Strategies: A well-informed forecast allows us to innovate and adapt our strategies proactively rather than reactively. 🏆Risk Mitigation: By predicting potential challenges and opportunities, leaders can prepare and mitigate risks effectively. 🏆Informed Decision-Making: Management equipped with future insights can make more informed and strategic decisions, driving the company toward sustained growth and success. Why Future Forecasting is Essential for C-Level Executives? Future forecasting is not just a skill; it's a necessity. The Aviator team knows that it enables them to: ✈️ Drive Innovation: Stay at the cutting edge of industry advancements. ✈️ Navigate Uncertainty: Provide stability and direction during uncertain times. ✈️ Strategic Vision: Create long-term strategies that are resilient and adaptable. ✈️ Leadership Excellence: Lead with confidence, knowing they are prepared for whatever the future holds. In today’s rapidly changing world, future forecasting is a critical skill for C-level executives, ensuring the company's longevity and success. It's easy to get caught up in the "what" in today's fast paced business environment — what products we sell, what services we provide. However, it's crucial to never lose sight of the "why" behind our businesses. Why are we here? Why did we start this? Why keep going? Simon Sinek's case study on the railroad companies' missed opportunity during the rise of the airline industry serves as a powerful reminder of not losing focus of our purpose in business. The American railroad companies focused on laying tracks and moving goods, forgetting that their core mission was about connecting people and places. That oversight cost them the chance to dominate the burgeoning airline industry. As we establish, grow, and maintain our own businesses, remember why we started. It's not just about the services we offer or the products we sell, it's about the impact we make, the connections we foster, and the lives we improve. #StartWithWhy #Leadership #Growth

Such an important and relevant message.
Embarking on a mission as challenging as this highlights one undeniable truth: human connection is everything — even in an AI-first world. While technology drives exploration forward, it's the compassion and support from loved ones back home that keep us grounded. From instinctual reactions to.... empathetic connections! 🧠💼 As pilots, we're familiar with the critical role of split-second decisions, often driven by our reptilian brain's survival instincts. But to truly excel in the flight deck, we must tap into our evolved mammalian brain, embracing empathy, collaboration, and connection. Leadership in the flight deck goes beyond technical proficiency; it's about fostering a culture of trust, communication, and shared purpose. By upgrading our leadership approach to leverage our mammalian brain's social engagement circuitry, we can inspire our crew, navigate challenges with resilience, and cultivate a safer, more cohesive flying environment. Ready to take your leadership to new heights? Comment the word "upgrade" below to learn more about how you can become a better leader in the flight deck! 🚀👨✈️ #FlightDeckLeadership #CrewCollaboration #FlightCrewCulture #PilotTraining #AviationLeadership #TransformativeThinking #AviationSafety #TeamSynergy

In a world full of change—marked by high inflation, geopolitical tensions, and significant political milestones—navigating the waters of our industry requires not just skill but foresight and adaptability. This week, as we reflected on these global shifts, my team and I committed ourselves to not just face these challenges but to anticipate and mold them into opportunities for growth and innovation. Drawing inspiration from leadership paradigms like those shared by David Marquet (Turn the ship around) and Patrick Lencioni (five dysfunctions of a team), we've focused on harnessing the collective strength and intelligence of our team. By fostering an environment where every voice is heard and empowered, we are not just reacting to change; we are actively participating in shaping our future. Our recent discussions have been a prove to this approach. They were richer, more focused, and action-oriented than ever before. In these sessions, we've seen firsthand the value of adaptability and the power of a unified team that leans into change, rather than away from it. I am truly proud of my #awesome team. This is in the spirit of Tryg's value of "As the world changes - we make it easier to be tryg" To all those navigating these tumultuous times, remember: our ability to adapt and innovate is not just our best tool but our legacy in the making. Let's embrace this journey together, with optimism and determination, as we build a future that reflects our highest aspirations.
