If there's one thing I see often is the lack of planning with the in-house communications department and/or the PR agency yet the expectation is always wanting big ROI. Not going to happen if you lack the foresight to bring your comms/PR partners in early and keep them in the loop often. The big moments take planning and time. If that isn't something you can or are willing to do, might as well stop paying a PR agency. 💁♀️ Thanks for the great read, Mark Pasetsky!

Do you know how to brief a PR Agency so that you get the most out of it? The brief is one of the most important phases when looking to work with a PR company. It explores exactly what you expect, what the deadlines and budgets are, and allows you to state your intent from the off. You need to be forthcoming here. You need to provide good, accurate information, otherwise it is a case of rubbish in, rubbish out, and no one wins. You wouldn't jump in a taxi and not tell the driver your destination. You wouldn't go to the doctor and ask them to guess your diagnosis. The same is true here. If a PR Agency doesn't know what you are trying to achieve, who you are trying to reach, your pain points, or your competitors, then you can’t possibly expect them to create a proposal that is even close to being right. For some top tips on how to brief a PR Agency correctly, or to download a brief template, take a look at the below. #howtobrief #pragency
