Process story: How to avoid errors? We have a Suzuki Brezza car that operates on diesel fuel. However, there’s a potential issue: someone might accidentally fill it with petrol instead of diesel. To mitigate this risk, I took proactive steps. Firstly, I requested the car dealer to affix a sticker specifically indicating “Diesel Fuel Only” on the fuel cap. Then why did I go a step further and add another sticker above the fuel cap? The reason is simple: visibility. When the fuel cap is open, the car dealer’s sticker is not readily visible to the fuel attendant. In the worst-case scenario, if the attendant begins filling petrol, they will notice the additional sticker midway. Ideally, the attendant would spot the warning right before starting the fueling process. In summary, redundancy in instructions is preferable as compared to aesthetics. Likewise, in official reports, although it looks redundant, we had instructions or footnotes on all sheets of the excel file.
