The most successful startups I've been around have had REALLY STRONG product leaders (ha! I bet you thought I would say commercial leaders). The one who stands out the most for me (of course, there are others) is Ronald Hildebrandt at Virgin Pulse. In the early days, he was never afraid (he asked for it!) to get on the phone with our customers. He also stayed hyper-aware of what was happening in the market, always one step ahead of everyone else when innovating our product. I learned a lot from Ron and typically immediately start a process where market-facing folks collect and share market feedback with the product team wherever I go. Has this been your experience? Who are some amazing product leaders you have worked with? #startups #productexcellance
Ron was the best manager I ever had. I learned so much from him. He always pushed me (in a positive way of course) to be better, and think outside the box. Wherever I go, I always advocate for a constant stream of feedback and collaboration between Product, Marketing, and Sales teams because of all the success we had at Virgin Pulse.
+1. Brett Jones and David Frahm are among the best (and both on the market I believe)!
Ron is definitely a fearless product leader and what I always loved about working with him is that he held everyone, including himself, to such a high standard and inspired us to contribute to continually raising the bar.
Second that. Ronald Hildebrandt's product direction was paramount for VP's success. Adding Joshua Herzig-Marx for early-stage startups.
Our early mentors have ripple effects they'll never truly know. I have several like this that taught me so much!
