Our broken relationship with each other, this country, ourselves … What is happening in this country is an outgrowth of all of that. Yet a different relationship is available, if we allow ourselves to imagine it, where we can be good for one another. We are waiting for someone else to tell us to come together, waiting on politicians to be an example, something to save us. What if how the politicians are is actually a representation, a mirror if you will, of how we are with ourselves, our communities, our fellow citizens, our fellow man and woman? I believe it is. Every day, we witness the systemic challenges that hinder our efforts to bring awareness to the violence against black and brown individuals. These are not just statistics; they are our brothers, sisters, parents, and children whose stories are often left untold, whose voices are unheard. The lack of adequate funding severely limits our ability to operate and advocate for those who are most vulnerable. NEW EPISODE ALERT - 501cTV's Jenell Harris discusses A New Beginning Community Outreach, with CEO Edward Williams and Marketing Director Randall White founded in 2014 by Harold Nickerson to assist ex-veterans facing challenges related to housing, food access, and benefits. Following Nickerson’s recent passing, the organization continues his mission, expanding its services from paperwork assistance to providing quicker housing solutions through partnerships with United Way and others. Many veterans struggle with navigating post-service life due to a lack of awareness about available resources, and the organization helps them by offering application support, connecting them with counselors, and providing food assistance.

The racial justice movement is under attack by opponents who want to stop our progress. Instead of retreating, we need to redouble our commitment to bolster the movement to build a California where everyone belongs and thrives.
