#Anime! It's big. So big in fact, that #Hollywood wants a piece of the action. I welcome this, but I also despair a little because the people who control "The Anime", and specifically the intellectual property rights to some of the most important franchises are having a very difficult time reconciling unprecedented global demand (2023 was the 2nd year on record where overseas anime revenue outstripped domestic sales in Japan), new technology and media, and major brand partnership opportunities with their own need to protect their brands. And by "protect" I mean, not alienating the underlying copyright owner, "the author". I think that #ROBLOX sits squarely in the "Too Hard" basket at most of the major #Japanese publishing houses and anime production committees. For one. Roblox is not a big deal in Japan. Why would it be? They have an ageing demographic, and while the platform is fast-scaling its 17+ user base, the graphical limitations and type of game play of most Roblox games may not yet be attractive enough to more mature and sophisticated gamers. Time will tell. I think that perhaps more importantly, the revenue isn't quite there yet to make it an attractive partner for most of the big anime IP owners. Interesting things usually happen when there is a vacuum, so it is no surprise to me to see #RedOne, the new Christmas family-adventure movie starring #ChrisEvans and #TheRock has partnered with one of the most popular anime games on Roblox currently. An anime game that doesn't feature any officially licensed anime or #manga character #IP. #AnimeDefender features "characters inspired by popular series like #OnePiece, #Naruto, #Bleach, and #DragonBall..", but unlike other popular Roblox Anime games, it is not infringing anyone else's copyright. Smart. #anime #manga #games #roblox #paramount #redone #Christmas #brand #partnerships #marketing #collaboration #metaverse #licensing

Hollywood needs to stay away from Anime. Producers and some writers keep wanting to take liberties on the source material. When they want to do a scene for scene live versions or the like, ok.
