Just came back from #ZohoDay24, and wow, am I bursting with insights and inspirations to share! This year's event was a masterclass in not just technology, but in building businesses that genuinely make a difference in the world. Once upon a time, a company named FutureYesterday* wanted to level up their customer support game. The CEO, Mike, found what seemed like the perfect solution: SparkDesk** – the shiny new platform with every bell, whistle, and a “limited-time discount!” How could he say no? At first, the honeymoon phase was blissful. SparkDesk looked sleek, and the initial setup felt easy. But soon, the cracks began to show… 👩💻 Training Costs: Turns out, SparkDesk wasn’t quite “plug and play.” Training the team turned into a mini-marathon of workshops, lost time, and unexpected expenses. 🔌 Integration Drama: Their CRM integration? Not so seamless. They needed custom workarounds, each one with a nice little “additional fee” attached. 💸 Surprise Upgrade Fees: Just as the team started to get the hang of it, SparkDesk announced, “We’re releasing a new version – but you’ll need to upgrade to keep support.” Surprise! What started as a “great deal” soon snowballed into a costly commitment. By the time Mike added it all up, he realized he’d spent double the original price! The moral of the story? There are plenty of Mikes out there, leading FutureYesterday everywhere, drawn to attractive price tags without fully considering the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). But smart growth comes from looking beyond the sticker price and accounting for the full journey—training, support, upgrades, and hidden costs. After all, in business (and in life!), sometimes the real cost of a “deal” only appears after you’ve signed on the dotted line. *The companies' names were made up, but I'm sure you know examples of such companies 😶 . . #TotalCostOfOwnership #BusinessLessons #SmartInvesting #Growth
